Last week as I was pinning a quilt I realized that even though the entire quilt was snowball blocks, there was one block I didn't snowball. Just popped it right in, whole. I felt so foolish. So it's very much appreciated that you share your mistakes. It helps us to feel better about the ones we make. I'm sorry you have to hang with Jack for a while but thank you for sharing.

We’ve all done that kind of stuff. Especially late at night. I sewed an entire huge batch of blocks with no thread in my bobbin. And twice last night sewing strip sets I had the wrong sides So I had some time with Jack the Ripper. It’s nice to know you are human too because you produce such amazing things all the time

It Happens Pat. Love that you always own it, when something goes wrong. It doesn't matter how many times this has happened over the years, it happens, just need to remember to read the pattern over when you start sewing, especially if you are interrupted or take a break, never hurts to just review where your at ( Jack & I are really great friends and have been for years ...lol). I just did the same thing when in a hurry and didn't check. A lot of ripping happened, so I will be good for awhile again. Enjoy your day and thanks for all your cheerful videos.

I was putting my fabric together for Jelly Roll Sizzle last night. I noticed that the pattern was putting strips together in pairs. I had just watched your video where you were sorting for the blocks. I thought you were going to show us a cool pinwheel short cut. I was trying to wrap my head around how that would work an decided I had better stick to the pairs. The alternative block that would result would really make a cool pattern if you don’t want the sizzle. 🙂

I’m so glad you told us about this. Once you said we could do the blocks and didn’t have to have the pinwheel fabric until later I was hyped. Went through my jelly rolls and was getting prepared to start. I could delay the decision for the pinwheels. I may or may not have caught it as I read the pattern. Suspect I would have thought “but Pat Sloan said I could do it this way” rather than following the pattern.

OMG!! I made two of these quilt tops a few weeks ago to donate and have the first on my longarm right now... and it's only after I JUST SAW THIS VIDEO. that I realized I snowballed the corners in the wrong direction om ALL my strips. I have diamonds in my background pattern, not pinwheels!! Waaay too late fore to seem rip so going to have to own it now as a "new pattern variation" 🤣😳 and now thanks to you I will have to make this pattern again, the correct way.
@ruthgooch85752 жыл бұрын
I am sorry for your mistake. But thank goodness you addressed it. I didn't start yesterday because I wasn't understanding the corners at a later date. I'm still somewhat of a newbie and in a confused state of mind. Pretty normal for me though. So sorry you have to spend so much time with Jack.

My favorite fabric for the April cross stitch was the one you liked the most. I would most definitely have used it. It was more springy. The aqua seemed to make it wintery looking, in my opinion.

You need to move the squares around. When you do the blocks you put the square in the same block then twist the blocks to make the pinwheel. Since the blocks are already together move the square to make the pinwheel. You'll still just need to rip part of it away. Where did you get the stand for the cross stitch? Love your daily shows!
@leehart90992 жыл бұрын
I absolutely LOVED the same fabric that you did for the April cross stitch! I would’ve picked that one if it were my quilt block. The one you ultimately went with is “nice” and “safe” but the other one “POPPED”. There may be others beside you and I that felt the same way 😊
@PatSloan2 жыл бұрын
Oh thank you!

Rather than unstitch the center of the flower on Fleamarket Fabrics, simply over-stitch the rim in a darker shade. This will add dimension (like a real flower) and save you a lot of time.

No big deal. Only have to rip out a few stitches, place the square, stitch, and it’ll be perfect. : )
@marlahanks72782 жыл бұрын
Hi Pat! I noticed that, too & like some of the others, thought there was a trick coming 🤣 But I did also figure out you would just have to rip a little farther than the stitch & flip needed to go! I'm anxious to see what you end up picking for the pinwheels. I do like this teal but also liked the yellow & gray.
@trishbishop39232 жыл бұрын
Oh no, I do see that you can only rip out a partial seam vs the whole thing! Then add your square and sew the seam back. Some pre planning needed because it depends whether the blocks need two triangles or just one. Hmmm. Happy date with Jack?!?
@raisdbywolvz2 жыл бұрын
I was looking at your blocks yesterday and I was so confused as to how you were going to get those pinwheels in. I'm sorry you have to have a date with Jack, but I'm very happy to know I'm not crazy. 😉

Glad you caught it-I made the same mistake! Thankfully, I only had to unsew parts of 3 blocks to fix it, not 14. Ugh, I feel for you. However, 3D pinwheels sound like a fun addition…

@pamelahill71642 жыл бұрын
So you don’t have to unpick them all. You just need to un pick one strip on the end only so far back enough to add the square to make the pinwheel
@fgeorge32 жыл бұрын
I agree! That’s what I was going to suggest.
@tinahansen24422 жыл бұрын
Pat, I noticed on the block that you said you could not make it work, that you have incorrect sides pinned into place, that is why it is making a box.
