@@sifibruh7055 The issue with that is that even outside the context of the construct, there is only so much to reality. Yes it is nigh infinite to the human mind, but if you factor in infinite time and that hardly anybody would want to do *everything* there is, it's just a bigger box. The food and games would take longer to become repetitive, but eventually novelty would run out, no matter how long that takes. That, or as the Narrator describes elsewhere, it'll be a cycle of doing and forgetting. At which point... what even is the point of doing the same things over and over, having forgotten that they'd been done an infinite number of times before?

You're able to deduce the identity of the smitten and call him out by name if you have the voice of the paranoid instead, who you can get by telling her to stay through the deconstructed damsel as opposed to leaving. However, it doesn't change anything. All you get is an achievement and a gallery entry.

Making another comment, this route was SO good, mostly because of the narrator as he slowly realises why his philosophy was truly wrong and the importance of death, as that ending was truly miserable for him, getting to 'enjoy' what he attempted to bring upon the world, and understanding how he almost cursed it with undeath. IDK thats just my opinion tho, if you see this have a good evening from America!

One thing I liked about this game since beofre even watching someone play it was the artstyle cause its so good. Also I hope your doing well Merg! (Also Merg I have a game suggestion in case you never heard of it called In Stars and Time and it’s basically basically a turn based, time loop, indie RPG that came out almost a year ago now and it has a really good story with themes such as the found family troupe as well as some creepy moments here and there)

Also also, day 583 of asking Merg to play Crosscode. Side note - since it's been a while after my last playthough of Crosscode, I started a new one! x4 multiplier on drops is kinda comedic, but it dramatically reduces grind. That definitely helps to ease the pain of "Prepare to Hi!", because oh boy, *that's hard*

I adore this game so much and hadnt seen any of the Pristine Cut content until now, mostly because I was very hesitant for any changes to be added since the completed game is so intricate and perfect And I have so, so many mixed feelings about the Happily Ever After route. Spoilers for this video and all the "true" endings of the game: First of all, the thing I LOVE about it, the Narrator finally being faced with the reality of his failed plan, realizing what he's done. Hearing him break and finding an ending where he actually gets to react to the eternal world he was trying to create WITHOUT coping and convincing himself it's good, chefs kiss. Music and art is great as always. One change I think would vastly improve it: this should be an ENDING ending. One you're somehow locked out of until you've at least met the Shifting Mound herself, so you can't just accidentally get it first. Why is it categorized as an Epilogue and not a Chapter 3 if it's still just a Vessel that gets dragged away to the Mound in the end anyway and repeats the process? I know the Echo can't somehow communicate his revelation to all other versions of the Echo across timelines - but I still feel like that realization should have some air of finality instead of coming BEFORE the shattering mirror and his final explanation and plea for you to kill Death. Also, this is just me being nitpicky probably, but the means of getting there is kind of weird. Most routes and the voices that accomany you feel SO deeply integral to the narrative and natural in how they come up, even routes that overlap like the Fury. But this one... why Opportunist? Yes he's a "people pleaser" I guess, but he does that to amplify himself and get what HE wants, not just because he's passive. Why was Smitten's immediate reaction to tear his own freaking chest open..? I know he's emotional and irrational, but I'm just not sure how THAT was somehow the first course of action for him. It also didn't really directly link to the following chapter - he didn't die in an opportunistic way to trigger the Opportunist, he didn't die in a state of stagnation to trigger the next chapter reflecting that fear, etc. How did the princess get the knife? Why? The only other route where she has it is the Thorn, and it's because you chose to give it to her in the Witch and it suits the theme of her surrendering her power and making herself vulnerable to trust you to help her. Why and how was Smitten able to "leave" the hero? I know the voices arent permanent fixtures and disappear with the mirror to reappear later - but aren't the Voices part of the hero? They're extensions of his own personhood just like the Vessels are extensions of the Shifting Mound - and unlike her, he's more limited and less contradictory because his existence doesnt rely on perception. I dunno, fantastic concept, very awkward execution. The full release was such a delicate balance narratively that I worry it's going to chip away little by little the more is added on top of it. Maybe something like the Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, where you're locked out of finding many "new" endings until you complete a few of the vanilla release endings, so new players don't somehow get those narratively "final" endings on their first or second playthrough and throw off the tone?

48:10 - big spoilers for the entire ending of the game to explain this The narrator wanted to create a world without death, doing so by locking away the princess, the embodiment of change. this entire route seems to have made him realise that when nothing changes, when you experience something for the millionth time, and its always the same, that youd eventually grow tired of even living, and in the world without change, you could never even die if you wanted to, as you could never change from being alive to dead. Guess he sorta figured out how big of a deal the concept of change is.

This is so sad The literal showing her the contents of our heart part was literally revealing to her your bature as The Long Quiet. Stagnation. And her "unnature" because she is the Shifting Mound, so sje can take on any nature. So, now understanding who you are, and you being the only thing she ever met outside of her own self. She will want to accept that gift of knowing you and tale on that nature. Leading to her attempt at staying woth you forever. Illusions of change as depicted by the meals and games ... But it is against who she is fundamentally, the narrator is being shown the world he is fighting for. A world with no abrupt change like death. Yet, it is so not like life. He understands that he fought for such a mistake ... He gives up. And lets you end with her. Leaving the world with change. He sacrificied his life. For nothing. But he is satosfied now. At peace.
