@@hobomike6935 to be fair, when it comes to things like hearths and stone ovens the fuel used to heat them does actually impart some flavor, and in the case of something like a brick oven, the intense heat leads to a completely different texture. Of course, that small benefits certainly isn't worth having one installed in your 100 square foot apartment, but it might make sense on the scale of a restaurant or something where you're doing specialty cuisine

This happens a lot with historical TV shows and movies where the costume/set/prop designers throw together stuff from a bunch of different periods because "hey it's all old" but it ends up being the equivalent of having people in the 1940s dressing like it's the 1980s or showing everyone in the 2010s using typewriters.

Something that adds to the joke is that Leela has her hair in a style that wouldn't be fashionable for another 10 years and her clothes are also at least 5 years from being in style. The Proffessor's suit is also something that no older white man would never wear in the 1940s because of its assoiations with Latino youths and the rationing that went on during WW2.

The “zoot suit riots” of 1943 saw young Latinos being targeted by the authorities because it was seen as part of Latino identity.

The Zoot Suit was popular in the late 30's to early 40's and the Poodle Skirt was invented in '47 but didn't get popular until the 50's. Their choice of clothing is only technically correct... which is the best kind of correct.

Well fashion did evolve slower in the medieval era - except among courtiers who’d usually be quick to match whatever the current monarch felt was fashionable. What would really screw over a time traveller going back to the 11th century would be regional differences in attire and customs.

It's really interesting how from Leela's perspective the entire 20th century was essentially just like when Fry experienced it but Fry only experienced late 20th century culture which differed from the early 20th century nearly just as much as the year 3000 differed from the late 20th century. Fry grew up with computers and cell phones while the people of the 1950's didn't even have microwave ovens yet.

Actually, the concept of 'radar ovens' had existed as a science fiction concept, and the first 'Radarrange', invented by Percy Spencer was created in 1946. but cavity magnetrons were too bulky and expensive to manufacture to be practical for a home microwave oven. The first modern microwave oven wasn't sold until the mid-1960's, and they didn't become common until the 1970's.

Well, to be honest they technically could have gotten a microwave oven in 1947. The RadarRange just hit the market and, considering that it was only as big as a refrigerator, it would have been more handy than a radar dish. For an inflation adjusted price of 40000$ it was not cheap though.

Also used Woad as face-paint, had the battle of Sterling Bridge on a field and had the Scots as a rag-tag band charging indiscriminately and still winning. In reality, Woad was too caustic to go on the skin, it was a dye for clothing and besides was used by the Picts, the pre-Roman ancestors of the Scots. The battle of Sterling Bridge was on a bridge, and the Scots had an organized army with just as much access to armor and weapons as the English.
