Just recently found your channel and enjoying. My wife and I used to live near Sandusky and moved last year to the wilderness of Maine. When we made the decision everyone warned us of the snow and brutal winters... to which I laughed, and said, cone on I'm from Ohio, it's just as cold and brutal there at times. The funny thing is, Mainer's think they have the corner market on snow to which I tell them tge same thing. Ohio can be snowy with brutal Temps also. Glad to see today your demos are the same as ours here on the great north woods. Keep up the great videos.

Hi Joe. The good thing with it so cold is that snow at least falls off the sticks as soon as you grab them. Also my little roadside stand has done very well. I’ve sold 1/3 of the amount of bins of firewood I sold for all of 2023 in the first half of this month. Bundles aren’t doing bad either. The insulated bibs stay stiff for a while. But the bibs, boots, and a great pair of wool socks are a must in this weather. I wish they made some bibs with Kevlar in them so you don’t have to put chaps on them. Try also oiling the lock after it’s thawed. We routinely oil the locks on hydrants at work. It does help keep the moisture out, but they still can freeze. It’s easier to thaw them if they’re oiled. Stay warm buddy. Thanks for showing us another day in your delivery service. I appreciate that you show, the good, bad, and ugly you deal with. Have a great day 👍🏻

For your locks, get them warm and dry and then give them a good shot of graphite powder. That may still get icy in winter but the graphite will allow the ice to just pop right off of parts. Find a rubber cup and feed the chain in from the bottom thru a slit and look the chain and pull the cup to cover the lock. Keep a shovel just inside the gate on one side… you will only use it to get you past the gate so you can get the tractor out and clear enough for your truck. For your temporary shelter for the axis, have you considered a twenty foot container with one side cut out? Shelter from snow and wind, maybe a burn barrel in one corner. I think you might have a problem finding a consistent source of stuff to burn but it’s a possibility…😂😂😂

How to open "frozen" padlocks: ---buy a 1 pound bottle of propane with a finger operated lighting attachment (torch). ---light it up, and turn it to a "low" setting, and heat up your padlock. Ofcourse, you should wear gloves to avoid getting burnt. In freezing weather, I have used this for years on a covered trailer padlock. Lubing the padlock helps, but in freezing weather, you need to first heat it up a few minutes.

I'm sure that would work. If you know me I would have forgotten it back at the house. lol

I am not sure how much air the snow blower blows but maybe it would blow enough air to blow the snow off of all of your stuff.

Yip on a truck like yours....junk in Snow and ice !!! NEVER buy a truck without a limited slip rear end ...that makes both rear wheels turn on whatever the weather conditions !!!! It's the next best vehicle to a four wheel drive ! Yes I know...I live in Saskatchewan Canada 😁
@ohiowoodburner9 ай бұрын
haha my 4x4 has that rear end and it has excellent traction. I even pull this white truck out of the mud with it in 2wd just to show off.

Rule #1, if you live in a region that gets snow you must buy an AWD or 4WD vehicle, especially a Pickup. You just learned that lesson. It pains me to see your equipment uncovered. You are just asking for unneccesary problems. I understand the budget issue, but bare minimum create a DIY circus tent using poles and tarps. Next level would be a car port. The car ports can be raised by setting it up on 50 gallon drums to provide better tractor access. Shipping crates are the cheapest, most secure, solution for storage. When your done using them, if ever, you can sell them for about the same price that you bought them for. Glad to see you are going with that solution. Have a realtor keep an eye open for a rental property with a pole barn or a piece of property you could purchase that has that requirement (as well as easy logging truck access). Set your buy price and general area and let that go on in the background for you. Never know, you might hit the jack pot. Keep an eye open for a private property, farm, that has an abandon barn close to the road and create a form letter requesting your being able to rent the same for your business. Some people are sitting on an income generator and don't realize it. It could be a win-win for both of you. Be safe! I enjoy your channel and wish you luck moving forward!

Thanks Robert. I have a 4x4. I get by with the 2wd. They both get over 20mpg. I like the 2wd bc it has an 8 ft bed. From my experiences it is always the guys with the 4x4's that are stuck somewhere. I just got moved into this place so I'm going to stay put for now. There are some expansion possibilities in the future so I am excited to see what I can do.

You sure do have some odd dilemma’s that you come up with.. Not sure why you cannot put the lock key on your pickup truck key ring and always have it with you, but ok.. You should just invest in a 4wd pickup truck, or better yet a f550 dump. I suspect you have lost business because you couldn’t get that 2wd in places before. Yes, these trucks are not cheap but having one is crucial. Thanks for the update Joe.👍

I have a 4wd but prefer to deliver with this one. Most my customers are restaurants so I rarely go off road. I sell out every year so I don't think I'm losing sales. As for the key If you knew me better you would know that I would lose it, forget it etc. I wouldn't want it on the key chain bc I wouldn't want to turn off my truck to open a gate

Wives appreciate landing on their but on the sidewalk even less. Gave her the option and she picked vacuuming up ashes in the cabin… after the first fall. They may not always be logical creatures but they do sometimes learn the hard way.
