Man I was worried when Jesse said he was retiring. Now not so much because he's still popping up and still demonstrating his enormous skill with that self loader. I got invalided out of the workforce at 63. But ten yrs on still find as much to do as I can handle. Busy is good and Jesse will always be busy,you bet! Good video Joe. Cheers from HB NZ

Love that hat Jesse! I have several friends that have told me that I could cut trees on their property, but I am currently buying dry, seasoned firewood for 60 a rick, then just resplitting and bundling, problems is now, that I haven't had time to make sales calls, to sale the bundles, so my 20' U-Haul is about full of bundles and shop floor has 180 sitting that needs to be loaded in the U-Haul, and wouldn't you know it! my old forklift quit me last week!!! so been looking at skid steers to replace it because I have land behind my shop to reclaim from the forest. Great video Joe

Nice Video Joe. Great looking Cherry. Jesse is a Master of a Log Hauler and Unloading Logs. Just Hanging Out trying to get Back to normal if that is Possible. Doing a lot of Walking trying to get back in the Swing of Things. You should have enough Logs to Process now for some Great Firewood. Another 1week and 3days till I can get active again, then only 1to2hours a Day every other Day. Should be able to do that. I have to Listen, at 72yrs I must learn to Enjoy. I Retired almost 8years ago but still working off and on for the School District which kinda getting a little less now. More time for the Family now and Myself. My Slight Heart Attack was brought on by my continuous Life Style..See you at your next Video Buddy, and I want to see what your Woodyard looks like. Ron

Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. The only cherry wood that folk over here comes across is the odd residential tree that needs to be dropped. My father used to say that he didn't know how he ever had the time to go to work and since retirement 20 years ago I have being saying the same!

Hi Joe- There is a large firewood processor here in Cleveland near the 77 & 480 split. He has a pile of logs that would fill your entire property. Maybe he is acquiring a lot of the available logs??
@ohiowoodburner2 күн бұрын
hard to tell. I think there are plenty logs to go around but for a small yard like me I have to be aggressive pursuing them

Sill after going back there. The trucks are so strange. Its very rare to see a truck rigged for moving sub 24 foot logs. Moving logs sideways 8 foot is basically not done at all. . When we occasionally sell a load of firewood, its generally all long enough to bunk 32 foot. Same bunk spaceing as a log load headed to a big domestic mill. Export log loads bunk 36 foot. . For firewood, a base rate of $1,100 for the zip code or so, is typical. $350 is the local charge so of the 1,100 i make $750 for the load. Then $5 a mile beyond. Its generally +/- 8 cord. Or about 22~ ton on a 88,000 truck, with a self loader. Generally the loaders out west are 10,000lb, ive noted most eastern log loaders on trucks. are generally 7,500lb less lifting, but longer boom.

I do not make $$ by volume sales. I invest more of my time in creating a quality stick of firewood that customers are willing to spend more money for. Here are some vids I did a while back that will give you some insight into what I am doing. @ohiowoodburner2 күн бұрын
Face cord? No such thing. lol 1/3 cord depends on where it is delivered to. Delivery is where the money is
