Well said Vladimir !...I've noticed if marketers add the words' fly fishing' to a sentence, product packaging, branding etc, you can watch the selling price rise many times😅even if the trout don't...thank you for all the very helpful tips, especially regarding appropriate quality UV resin for nymphs/dries/shrimps and compatible wavelength lamps/torches...love your jig off bead concepts and tyings...and the squeaky nose trick 😅

Right now, i am trying to figure out whether i really need the most expensive reel, rod, lines and other stuff for GT fishing. I am well aware of its strength so i know i need quality. Just need to see how to avoid paying too much

When I was in Manchester (UK) a while back, I walked into a craft store and bought the same material as the semperfly extreme string. I also found a yarn that is the same as the Wabbit/synthetic rabbit strings. Needles to say, but I bought a 50 yard hank of the "extreme string" for 2.99£ and the other was about the same.

Hi Vladimir. Lots of information in this video and a good tip to quiet your squeaky bobbin. You may use the same trick on the rod ferrules when putting it together to allow the pieces to separate easily when taking the rod apart. You are definitely a perfectionist when it comes to your tying techniques and your pragmatic approach to everything in life. I love it.

back when fishing rods had metal ferrules an ancient relative of mine told me to rub the end of the rod section on my nose to lube the connection in the ferrule. It works, but it also turns sticky after a while and eventually causes more trouble than it's worth. A tiny bottle of light oil for sewing machines has a precise applicator, is cheap, and has lasted me many years even though I use it often on pliers, bobbins, electric clippers, and -- once -- a sewing machine

I think it’s the same issue as with most commercial fly-tying material. They’re all marketed in minute quantities compared with most applications, and there’s costs involved with that alone. Also, a fly-tying outlet can do a roaring trade all day, and only shift a very small amount in terms of bulk. Everything has to be paid for, staff, premises, etc etc, from the proceeds of that relatively small turnover. So I’m not resentful of what they charge, but I only use them for what I absolutely can’t source anywhere else.

Thats all true. But some love to overcharge stuff. I do pay where there is no other alternative, especially when after quality. Sometimes it makes sense paying more at least because people sourced good stuff that are exactly what tiers need. 🍻

I just bought jewelry uv and the recommended light. I refused to buy the expensive fly store product. Also bought about 12 small bottles of colored dyes and small metal tipped applicator bottles. You can even use acrylic paint to color it. Thank you for the video. This is a very nice fly.

Do the same thing to your rod sections, rubbing it on the side of your nose. The oils act as a lubricant, and you will be amazed how easy the rod breaks down. Far less likely to have stuck sections.

But look for UV thats suitable for making some crafts such as key chains, or pendants with aubmerged objects inside. This would be hard and translucent for what we need for flies. Hope this helps. Buzzers for early season on reservoirs are best with UV as you want them to sink and be durable. I bought some resin from a well known online retailer and it works great. I bought a light from a brand and also resin and to be very honest the battery for the light is a right pain to charge not worth the additional cost at all. Yes the resin is a bit greasy after it cures but it’s nothing a touch of varnish cannot fix.

Last year I had a bottle of loon thick uv it applied nice hardend nice then a couple months later every fly I used it on the application area turned a green color .this was hundreds of perdigons and wing cases on hares ears ,I was so upset,I use solar rez now

That is a reason to get upset. I understand you. I never tried solarez but i dont need to. So far cheap stuff works well for me. Plus, on some flies i use superglue with better results than with UV.

Hi, i got this in china, i live in china so mu sourcing isnt going to work for you. But get some small packs to test from DIY places. Jewlery supplies or from 0laces that sell resins for keychains and similar

As always great video with valuable tips. You have put out several videos using Moose hair. Quick tip, if the hair starts to split due to being dry. Soak a few hairs in a little water and hair conditioner. Will tame the hairs and make pliable. Thank you for sharing your talents 👍 Tight Lines 🪰

Hello sir! Where in China do you live? You must have a great job! Anyway I agree with what you're saying 100%. I buy 99% of my resin and tools and other fly tying stuff from a China based company called Temu. You ever buy from them or look at their website? It's pretty good. You still have to use common sense because some of the companies that sell through Temu do sell junk but mostly I've been happy with what I've bought. If you look at their fly tying stuff and you're curious about an item shoot me an email and I'll tell you what I think of it because like I said, most of my stuff is from Temu.
