I never liked trying a dropper to the shank. I'm going to start tying hoppers with your loop. Thank you so much for a great idea!

Thanks. I never liked it too. I came up with the idea long ago... But its not mine... Many people around the globe use the same stuff. Though I wish i was an inventor of some cool techniques 😀🍺

Nice beetle rendition. Looks like a good one to suspend a nymph but also elicit strikes. Appreciate your work!

Thanks so much. Its exactly for what you described. While i was using foam indicators... I remember fish were hitting them way too often to be ignored. 🍻

Great pattern Vladimir ...lots of movement in the legs...like the way you tie the loop to sit horizontally and narrow, helping both build the body, and the way it sits on/in the water when used with a tied-on tippet /nymph combo

Thanks so much. This is just to test on some fish when weather gets warmer a but. 😀

Another nice and interesting tie Vladimir. I just bought a variety of foam pads to tie terrestrials. So I'll have all the materials to tie this fly as well. As for that loop on the end... I can easily see its function to stabilize the foam as a platform. But I'm not sure about using it to add a dropper. Wouldn't the dropper pull the butt of the beetle down at an unnatural angle? I normally tie the dropper on the bend of the hook of my top fly. Thanks!
@Oholisfliesandfishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad you like it. Well, it will pull it, but i dont think fish care. Same as tying it for the hook bend. It will still pull down. This fly wont hold a lot of weight... But medium to small fly is perfect. Cheers 😀😀

Your workmanship and attention to detail are amazing! I will definitely try this. Do you have any ideas about tying a terrestrial that can be used as an easily-adjustable dry/dropper configuration? Thank you for all your fine instructional videos!

Thank you for such nice comment. Actually this one can be tied as such. actually i was talking to a friend recently. He suggested this technique... kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIWoXourmbStrLs&ab_channel=GaryHanke

what is the advantage of tying off to this mono loop rather than to the hook bend? I'd think the hook bend allows for better presentation. Is this for use with barbless hooks where the dropper could slide off?
@Oholisfliesandfishing Жыл бұрын
Its exactly as you say. For barbless. Sorry I forgot to mention that. I always use barbless or debarbed hooks. So i assumed (wrongly) that people will understand. Again, my bad. Cheers and tight lines 🍺😀

Get a small container, I use one that perscription pills came in, and stuff it with steel wool to clean the needle after spreading glue or epoxy.
