Cyn is right. From experience, I knew that there was truth to what she is saying. So I tried it, no oils on the scalp and I joined the 7 day hair challenge and I kid you not, by the end of the week I’m like 😲😲😲 ohhh this is sebum! I like sebum lol 😁 This is my sixth week in the challenge and I continue to see and feel that glorious sebum on my scalp and on my hair lol. It makes my hair so soft and shiny 🥹 I learned a lot from Cyn and I especially love that I’m creating a hair routine based on the knowledge I’ve gained from joining the 7 day hair challenge. Now I think before I buy and I understand the products I’m adding to my hair routine and why. I understand my hair type and what will work or won’t work for me and why. I have the power to make decisions for myself ❤️ Oh, and the best part is now I look forward to wash day with excitement 😁

You are right about the oils causing scalp inflammation. That is how I got it. Once I started oiling my scalp every other day without washing it until the weekend, I had no scalp problems. I started doing hair challenges, and we were oiling our scalp every other day. I didn't know also that I was allergic to certain oils. My scalp started itching. I notice there were bumps on my scalp. I went to a dermatologist finally after buying a digital microscope to see what my scalp looked like, and it scared me. Not only that, but I was also allowing my hair to air dry. I had to take antibiotics for 30 days, and wash my hair every day with a prescription shampoo. I started watching your channel, and hearing what you said about oils and air drying, something clicked. Furthermore, I knew that was what caused it. The Dermatologist never told me not to put oil on my scalp, but she gave me a medicated oil if I needed to stop the itch. I stopped putting oils on my scalp unless I did a treatment and I washed it off right away like you said, and now I have no problems with my scalp. I blow dry my hair, and brush it every day. My hair stays moisturized with no problems. I no longer layer my hair with moisturizer creams, oils and a leave-in conditioner anymore. My sebum keeps my hair moisturized. My hair is growing back from where it had thinned out. Thank you for the education. In Cosmetology school, they do not teach you about how to take care of our hair, at least when I went back in the 70s we taught the class about pressing our hair from what our parents taught us. My teachers were clueless about brown skinned people's hair.

Certainly not all oils. It is proven scientifically researched fact that certain oils can penetrate the scalp, absorb into the vasculature and nourish the root of the hair bulb. However, many oils like olive oil are not good for the scalp because of their "free fatty acids" and lipid arrangement that actually feed the yeast that causes dandruff and as well as certain bacteria that can cause problems leading to hair loss. A little oil goes a long way . Most shampoos and conditioners actually have oils in them anyway.
