Great Vid on the Filter & Oil Change, I just recently purchased a 2005 Acura (76,000 low milage) MDX and your video will save me some cash. I am a newbie to the mechanic portion of maintenance and guys like you really help. Simple, easy, and your camera angles are on point. Oil changes prices have increased and an average jiffy lube change is 75 - 100.

Glad it helped! It is nice to hear that people appreciate my camera work. Heck yeah, doing the job yourself and knowing it done right is always a good thing. Plus saving $40 doing it yourself is a bonus as well. Thanks for checking out my channel. Josh

The oil filter does NOT just come off like that - you must have a filter wrench to unscrew it. I’ve changed oil filters many times and a filter wrench is a major necessity
@eliasgarcia62482 жыл бұрын
Really good video, just want to point out that you will need a high torque ratchet to remove the oil plug.
@JDMRightHandDrive2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip!
@con5tant2 жыл бұрын
You should never use a torque ratchet to loosen anything
@laserillusionstech2 жыл бұрын
If too tight, all you need is more leverage. A breaker bar will do.
@bob3k-ig9sj Жыл бұрын
Use a ratchet and not a angular one just a straight one. if some room tap it with a small hammer if no room then get a dumbell bar and put it over the ratchet handle for more torque to remove BUT not to tighten the nut.
@n3tfury Жыл бұрын
@@bob3k-ig9sj Going forward you should never have to do that as you'll be doing it hand tight.

So you didn’t need the jack to hold the car up to change the oil 👀

It is not necessary to jack to car up. You can easily reach everything from the front bumper area.

The Acura dealership in San Diego quoted me an oil change on a 2009 MDX would cost $129.95 plus tax. WTF has this world come to!
@JDMRightHandDrive4 ай бұрын
Wow that is a crazy price. I remember just a few years ago dealerships offering oil changes for around $35 and using that service as a way to bring people in to up sell additional services. Our Mazda and Subaru dealers both charge $110 as well. Now it is definitely worth doing the oil change at home yourself and saving $70.
