Thank you for a simple, effective, and easy how to video. The wood blocks was such a simple solution. Just changed my oil on an ipower 5000 as I was without city power due to the storm Ernesto.

THANKS, wow that was more simple than i imagined, my generator book said it needed to be serviced by dealer for oil change, crazy

I broke in my Champion 11500/9250 by 1st putting some STP in the spark plug hole and pulling it through 10 times to make sure the cylinder was well-lubed. I changed oil after 1 hour then 2 hours then 4 hours then 8 hours. I used Walmart lawn mower oil for that. I got a great deal on Valvoline VR1 and I use that now. My reasoning is these small, hot-running, high-RPM engines probably catch as much hell as racing engines do. This gen. always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. I use Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas. I might be a little overboard on maintenance but I want no problems when I need it.
@Z23go Жыл бұрын
I don't treat mine that well but I bet you have a smooth running generator because of it. I like Marvel Mystery Oil too and put it in my lawnmower and vehicle. 👍

I used Walmart 30w lawn mower oil at one time (no longer available) and in hot weather (95 degrees) the engine locked up on me one time. I learned the hard way that you need 40 and even 50w when it's really hot. VR1 20w50 fits the bill and I had no more issues. You might even strap a box fan to the unit to help cool it. Thank you for taking the time to help us out here.@@Z23go

When checking oil level do you turn dip stick in all the way or just to the threads
@projet2907 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same
@tomcat5986 Жыл бұрын
So let's ask again. I thought you did not turn it down so what is it fella?
@projet2907 Жыл бұрын
@tomcat5986 Think it is different from one generator to the other. I did my oil change on a King Canada 7500W. I filled it like the instructions say, to the bottom of the threads. I can now see the dip stick is not very accurate. If I dip it and don't turn it in the threads, only the tip is with a mark of oil. If I turn it it is a bit above half way instead of full. by doing your oil change I guess you get to know your generator's dip stick and go with that.
@darwinwollmann40973 ай бұрын
Didn’t show or tell the most important part. Did you screw the dip stick all the way in or just insert with screwing it in?

Hello, what is the reason for the generator choking when it is turned off, as if it is hitting itself to the ground?
@edmalts Жыл бұрын
It was slow because you did not open the dip stick j/s. Good job bud. 😊😂🎉

In colder climates we use 10W30.
@dope7kids Жыл бұрын
U may have that backwards 5w30 is a lighter oil used for cold climates. 10w30 is thicker for warmer climate.

@Z23go5 ай бұрын
This particular model does not have an oil filter. Some do, some don't. The smaller size ones tend to not have them.
@sarahw.35485 ай бұрын
@@Z23go Thanks so much. The "user manual" actually references an oil filter but never stated where it is. I suspected it doesn't have one. I appreciate your response.
