Viewers be advised: (1) Oil drain is normal right-hand thread. (2) Never use a torque wrench to loosen fasteners, you will ruin it (3) Add 3.7 quarts, no more. (Oil level must be checked when oil is hot, not cold, in dry sump systems.) (4) Recommended viscosity for this vehicle per BMW is 5W-40 synthetic. Do not use 20W-50 in this motor with its small clearances, you will have premature wear. (5) Oil filter torque is only 8 ft lbs, or 3/4 turn past when gasket touches surface.

drain plug on bottom is counter clock wise as viewed looking at it, use new washer, torque wrench it to spec.

drain plug on bottom is counter-clockwise to loosen ( right hand threads). With left-hand threads, you would turn clockwise, to loosen.

don't think using 20 - 50 OIL is appropriate, however warm the climate is.More stress on the oil pump and it will take a fraction long to work around the galleries and therefore could lead to more internal wear. The water cooling should do its job.

Help. So the dip stick guide fell into the oil reservoir when i was putting the dip stick in. Will this be a problem leaving it in there?
