Good video. like a mini cooper. To be clean and neat. I stick a rag around the oil filter before I pull it to avoid spills. Also, wear some latex gloves whenever working. oil is toxic on skin. And you won't have to wash your hands when done. The oil will eat through the latex gloves after an hour. Love your comment about shops say they know what they are doing and don't. I've had shops put in wrong oil, forget to put the dipstick back in, crush a metal canister oil filter they put on, etc... Do it yourself because at least you know you take the time to do it right.

@@bermandonahue5234 BRP makes different bars...they might make one to works better. I have not heard of risers for the spyder but I would reach out to lamonster or show chrome. You should be able to find there sites on spyder lovers.

I’d appreciate watching from start to finish how you full the oil, do you have to start the engine after so many quarts or pour it all in at once.

The 1330 you can but in a 5 plus qts. The older V-Twin you can only get around 4 qts in and then you need to start it.

I have removed it and now I just Bluetooth music to my helmet. It was a Boss 4 channel 1000 watt with 3in speakers. I found it on Amazon and it worked well below 70 mph.

Great vid. As always. I’m about to do my first oil change. (2021 F3-T) Bought the OEM kit from the dealer. I got to reading the manual just to understand what the oil capacity is and it threw me a curve ball. It lists oil capacities with and without an HCM filter change. Do you have any idea what an HCM filter is?

The HCM filter is only on SE6 transmission and is bolted to the right side of the Spyder. You change it every 29,000 miles I think.

Two oil drain plugs? One crankcase, one transmission or what? Nice video. How much would a dealer charge for what you did? I'm planning on letting them do it until I'm out of warranty. Thx!

+Speedsterjohnny yes 2 drain plugs! One is on the motor side and the other is the trany. I have no clue how much the dealer would charge I have been asked not to come back to my local dealer! Long story!!

I can not answer for your dealer but my dealership charges $200 for an oil change and that was on a 2014 Twin. I did the 1st one at the dealership and after that price I did my own for well under $100 and I used full synthetic vs the BRP blend. Make sure you do not over tighten the drain plugs when you put them back in. Invest in a torgue wrench.

+TheWolfeman220940 a T-45 for one of the drain plugs . a 6mm hex for the other drain plug. The oil filter cap is a 36mm . I think the right side cover screws are t-26. I would get the Brp kit so all the seals are the same color I think it has 6 and must are different.

+John Newman brp uses XPS I think it's made by Castro and it's a synthetic blend oil Amsoil is full synthetic that's why I use it.

You only add the oil to one location and on the F3 it's where the oil dipstick is.

I agree. It now has 70,000 miles and runs great but still has metal on the drain plug.

Would it be ok to change the oil and filter on my F3 if the engine is cold? (Not warming up the engine before oil change). Thank you!

Yes and no. Cold oil does not flow very well so it won't hurt anything it will just take longer and you may not get all of the oil out of the bike. Plus if it is warm the oil and all the contaminants will be mixed together and will be a more complete oil change.

The oil filter and the oil is the same but the 1330 oil change kit is different! The 990se5 has a transmission fiter that the 1330 does not have also.

Well the V twin is a lot different. You have a drain plug on the left side in the oil tank and only one oil filter but its not in the same place as the 1330. The oil change is easy to do on the 990 and you should be able to find a video on how to do one. Just make sure you check the oil level every 500 miles or so the 900 consumes oil...very normal to add a quarter quart every 500 miles or so.
