Just did this repair and it works perfect!!! Thank you very much!! Couldnt find the parts at lowes but home depot has them part numbers are A-260 short rod nuts 1/2flare and LFA-276 union 1/2in fl x 3/8 in mip. Easiest if you remove the oil adapter because it is a little tight to get to.

I had a very bad experience with the line just kept jumping out of the quick connect 3 times and I was on the side of the road laying in oil trying to get the line back in. I was so frustrated and didn’t know what to do. I found this video and he really knows what he is talking about. I changed it over to the brass fitting the other day and it works very very well. I can’t thank this guy enough thank you thank you thank you buddy👍

I just got done doing this on my 1994 SUB K1500 works perfect thanks for the video it was very informative. There's room for you to cut about 1/2 inch off the line so don't worry just cut it right at the ring and you will be fine I messed up an forget to put the flare nut on and still cut it twice and it had plenty of room.

That's right, the rubber hoses are a little forgiving in that ull have a little room to play with.

A more than above average video as I have a auto shop and had a customer's 94 k-1500 5.7 with a leak in the rubber part of the line. Replaced both lines test drove checked ok. A couple hours later look under truck to see major leak at rear of motor, pulled back in and was leaking from top line. Re-did job fired up no leak, test drive to come back with lower line now dripping !! Some over paid engineer with GM probably the same one that designed the quick disconnect heater hose that the coupler deteriorates over time due to two un-similar metals together, brilliant ! At any rate I hope that over paid idiot is looking for a job ! And thank you for more than a bandaid fix, Rich

Great video. My local mechanic advised me to just plug the ports and get rid of the lines all together, but I didn't want to give up the option of towing heavy loads. I'm gonna do this repair this weekend then send your video to my mechanic. The extra details you added made it easier to find parts to. Thanks!!

On my 89 Chevy truck both aluminum lines were wore thin where they rubbed against a steel power steering line perpendicular to them ,right underneath the radiator , one started dripping engine oil at a pretty good rate . If these lines were steel I could have just soldered and built up the thin spots but I’m going to try to cut out the bad spots and reconnect both lines using this method. It only took 32 years to develop this leak.

Clever approach. If it seals perfectly, I find this idea interesting. I like the metal tubing from the stock lines generally, especially near hot manifolds so this is interesting.

Not kidding about the 2 blocks, lol I had one blow off at 70mph though it was on fire it smoked so bad. Almost all the oil blew out before I could shut it off and coast.

Don't know about the radiator size. Haven't ever had any problems with that side of cooler lines only block side. If ur going after market cooler u may have to match up a fitting for it to the cooler lines u have on the truck.

Hello all Chevy oil cooler line repairmen! I have watched dear Bobby's videos as well as others' and am still "loose". Upon installation of the 3/8 × 1/2-flare union into the oil filter housing, the 3/8 side threads but is very loose and wiggle-able. No one has mentioned this.?? Please help! So did he single flare these connections or double flare, I've watched the video and don't recall him saying, other then the lines being extra thick. Thanks I'm working on my truck as we speak

So you lost a few inches from cutting the end of the lines off to flare them for the new brass fittings correct? You did not run into any length problems? Or if anybody knows
@bobbyholmes79014 жыл бұрын
No if u cut it 1/4 to 3/8 behind the flange then put on the brass fitting and flare it it will work out just fine remember the lines flex up top at the rubber part of the line an inch or more. Thanks for watching and make sure to watch part 2 . If I can help any farther give me a call anytime, if no answer leave me a message I'll get back to u asap. Thanks again.

the aluminum on my rad cooler line inlet threaded what should i do now? it pours oil around the inlet. i’ve tried rtv n i might just remove the lines now on
@bobbyholmes79015 жыл бұрын
Ok here is a fix for ur application. Put new lines on it as I have shown. Than instead of running it through the radiator put an aftermarket oil cooler on it play sit in front of the radiator or the AC condenser and you'll be fine. Check the lines every now and then make sure they're tight and you should be good to go
@sebastianbeck39355 жыл бұрын
Bobby Holmes very smart never thought about that it is 100$ or so tho and i’m on a budget like any highschooler so now looks like the rad place is shipping me a new one for free just gotta install it again
@bobbyholmes79015 жыл бұрын
It's cool that they sending you a new one but if you looked on eBay they're not that expensive or go to your local salvage yard find one off of a newer model truck Anna. The lines from it just for future reference the external cooler works better then the one going through the radiator anyway because if your truck ever runs hot the old will get hot also get it away from the radiator the hot water will never have an effect on it sometimes you just have to think outside the box stay cool man

What about the fitting that goes into the red it self for these lines? Please help lol
@bobbyholmes79013 жыл бұрын
In most cases if you're have problems at the radiator from the lines it would be best to hook a aftermarket oil cooler to the lines and mount it in front of the radiator and grill, making sure you have no leaks after installing it and you will fine. We hook the same type cooler to the transmission cooler lines all the time. Hopefully this idea helps out . If you have any other questions please call Bobby at 678 725 9953 . He make be able to help you with your specific application.

Help! I'm leaking at the radiator between the threaded fitting & the pipe...it's spewing motor oil. I'm trying to repair w/ out buying a whole new line.

Take it out of the radiator and put an external cooler in front of the radiator. Ebay has oil coolers on line is the way I would fix it

I'm sorry to bug u again, but can't I do a switch out the fitting that goes into the radiator?
@bobbyholmes79013 жыл бұрын
You can remove the oil cooler lines and kit off the engine it's self. I wouldn't because of bad air flow in these year trucks have bad air flow to begin with. As far as the fittings on the radiator I don't know of any other fitting that would work. As far as buying parts, all ur going to need is the cooler and 3/8 transmission hose an 2 fitting that will go from 3/8 barbed to the size of the cooler lines already on the truck now.
@bobbyholmes79013 жыл бұрын
On removing the oil cooler from the motor just get the kit off of an old truck like urs without an oil cooler from the factory. Look in a salvage yard.

This video freezes Everytime I try to watch it. Same lines as my 93 Sierra but my book doesn't show how to take them off and I can't find anything else on the net showing how to take these lines off. Have to do a timing chain and either replace these lines or cut the bells off and clamp the hose to the line. Seems they leak all the time when u buy the complete lines. Oil filter housing has to come out. It's a lot of work to replace timing chain in these trucks almost not worth it. I think I need a 70s model Chevy or GMC instead. Less crap in the way to mess with
