Fantastic job enjoy the video. Yes, I did see that expensive fan mount that you were talking about. Great job to make your own. What do you think about a IRS and where would you mount a fan, other than over the transmission.👍🏾✊🏾🙏🏾.

Putting the bearing in is much better than that urethane junk, but what about the inner bearing?
@JWClassicVW
@JWClassicVW 2 жыл бұрын
In This aftermarket beam there wasn't an inner bearing. I have heard great things about delrin bushings.

Hey sir. Full flow ???. Doing a full flow. Want to run my fan oilcooler. Do I still run my doghouse oilcooler? Just full flow through filter, cooler and back to the bock?
@JWClassicVW
@JWClassicVW Ай бұрын
I've done both now with and without the doghouse cooler. The most important thing you can do is have an oil thermostat installed before the full flow external oil cooler. Without one the engine will take a line time to warm up. But either with or without you'll be ok, leaving the doghouse oil cooler would provide additional cooling.

Great video dude! I'm doing something similar and the inspiration comes at the perfect time. Can't wait to see how it fits. I was thinking of putting the fan on the underside. I am still trying to decide on push or pull on the fan direction. What is your input?
@JWClassicVW

Hey there Chris!! How's it going brother? I'm sure it would work either way... honestly just having an external cooler helps so much.

Hi Jason, I have a question. So I to have a bigger engine, I’m running a street 2110 with dual webbers and I live in Florida where it’s hot. I’m concerned about my engine getting hot on long runs and it has been getting a little hotter than it should. Would this oil cooler help with the temperature. I currently am using the little empi oil cooler box
@JWClassicVW
@JWClassicVW 5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what this EMPI cooler is that your running but yes increasing oil capacity and the additional cooler would improve oil cooling.

Jason need your help. I currently have a full flow with filter. I want to add an oil cooler setup like this one. Do I need to add a sandwich adapter to my current oil filter adapter in order to run the oil lines to the cooler? Also, do you have a template available for the mount that you made? Thanks - Mike
@JWClassicVW
@JWClassicVW Жыл бұрын
No you don't need to add any adapter you'll just need to router through the filter then to the cooler and then back to the engine. As for a template for this oil cooler yes it is available through my Facebook group. There is a files section there with it. facebook.com/groups/1254174451415854/

I installed my oil cooler in the same position. My only concern is how to drain the oil from during an oil change. Any tips.
@JWClassicVW
@JWClassicVW 4 жыл бұрын
Hmmmmm... good question but honestly the cooler only maintains a small residual amount of oil in the lines. I'm not to concerned on flushing the entire system and leaving the oil in the cooler isn't going to cause any significant issues. With that said if I did want to drain the cooler without removing it i would probably just pull off the lines at the oil filter housing, put one line in the oil catch and charge the other side with compressed air... or use a shop vac reversed to blow air.

Jason jw classic's: you might find that you'll have some problems with that bearing insert on your torsion arms..check with the service department first..why..? On Manufacturing: I believe the torsion bar tool was heated to 400 - 700 degrees Fahrenheit & Bearing was inserted with the tool with the proper depth.. and the bearing was chilled at 260 degrees below zero using liquid nitrogen.. once the bearing was installed.. the bearing was firmly place so it wouldn't move.. make sure of this before you start removing any metal from the inside of the tube.. if you don't check on this measurement you may have worried City in the future..Good Luck.. "Critter".

That sounds super interesting... I love knowing how they built this amazing VWs!! Pretty sure what I'm thinking will work, its not a factory beam it is an aftermarket and I can see where it was reamed before. I will probably need to freeze the bearings though.
