lol WOOOO WEEE look what i just stumbled across in a wiseco article! this was just something that popped up on my news feed. lmao not even me lookin for validation. blog.wiseco.com/common-causes-of-blowby-and-oil-cons… If you are planning a new engine, consider the advantages of using a standard pressure and volume oil pump. If the oil clearances in the engine are set properly, a standard pressure and volume pump will deliver more than sufficient oil pressure. Adding a larger high-volume pump often results in the pump merely by-passing more oil which only increases oil temperature because most oil pumps internally re-circulate the oil rather than dumping it back in the pan. Either way, this is wasted effort.

No issues here at 330ish hp on a z6 stock oil pump. I wish I shimmed and ported for self comfort but no issues. My buddy's was shimmed and he spun bearings on like 3 motors lol

We can't forget that the main and rod bearing journals share oil between each other with the 45 degree or whatever passeges lol i think a lot of the issues with any crank be it a z6 crank or y7/8 is when this passage or "buddy system" of sharing oil gets starved due to low oil. maybe the z6 crank deals with a low oil situation "better" since the journals are cross drilled and theres extra oil chilling there in this little boulevard? the y7/y8 cranks litterally have to slingshot oil to just one hole per journal on some hail mary shit and if the mains suffer, so do the rods right... im pretty sure you could do some impressive work to a a y7 y8 crank by simply cleaning out these passages ( like with a bore brush ) and chamfering the edge of this passage in the same direction the crank spins. or... just dont run too low on oil..😂

I think why people have more problems with the Y series cranks is because they are using very thin weight oil and it was not meant for the abuse that they give it

Ryan McCormick possibly. My question is who on the channel had done the build multiple times with both cranks, and who’s just sayin what they’ve heard 🤔😁
@preludedudesi52085 жыл бұрын
The Y cranks have 1 oil hole on the rod journal vs the z6 has 2 and keeps the rod bearing more lubricated

Funny af. The "quote " in the beginning. Lol. That good news. Less work, less money. Invested. Awesome to know.

What oil viscosity people using? I was recommended a 10-50 esther synthetic oil which has better lubricating properties....

what's the highest hp you made on y7 y8 oil pump and crank and how long did it last???

Ive heard that the z6 oilpump is also better is this a myth or truth in your opinion?

HEY!! Can I put a Y8 or Y7 crank in a Z6 block?? Fucked up my Z6 crank and I have A Y7 available to replace it.

Anthony yes
@anthony69725 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! Just found your channel. Great fucking content! Is the crank a direct replacement without modification? Read something about the Z6 having 2 oil holes and the Y7 having 1

Anthony direct replacement. Go through my d series playlist. Have a video on the details

I have a z6 completely stock, I plan on runnin a cheap turbo with maybe 9 pounds at most, have a fun car while I build my k24 motor. My concerns are I blow my z6 before I am finished with my k. What are your thoughts
@VHBEngines2 жыл бұрын
Boost pressure is irrelevant when judging power without a very detailed and specific outcome. Don't go over 210whp and if your engine is healthy it shouldn't be an issue
