I’m really glad I watched this video . I was going to purchase a $80 blox block guard from online for my d16z6 , but seeing how much better the css is I’m just going to have to pay the extra and get it done right . Thanks for all the information great video 👍!

I just sent a b18b block out to be css's after cracking a sleev with a block guard at 500 whp held good for 6 months but gave out the day after a long track day will send pics if u want to show ppl block guards aren't what they are cracked up to be I also cracked my first sleev ever on the motor b4 the block guard at around the same power it lasted a lil longer with the block guard but u cant prove it was the block guard that helped more than it being just a better block to begin with, I like the videos keep em comin ppl need to know if u take a risk of goin too cheap u run the risk of breaking your other parts pistons/ head/rods if hydrolock cracking a sleev can out right ruin your whole motor I don't think ppl understand how bad it is to have it happen normaly on a non b20 motor b20's crack inbetween the cylinders not at the water jacket like b18's do that being said when a b20 cracks its less likely to be as catastrophic .

I have a thought.. heat the block gaurd up till red hot, then tap it in . Or grease up the sides first 😎

Slight problem here . 6061T6 or 7075T7 whatever they claim these junk items are CNC d from will be a pool of molten material before its " red hot " . The NA Jaguar V12 racing engines that beat the 1100bhp turbocharged Porsche cars in World Endurance racing had no block guards .Basically the wet liners had a completely different sectional profile when siamesing the liners to improve structural rigidity plus the standard 5 bolt per cylinder head bolting pattern . The structural rigidity of a wet liner system relies on the design of the liner itself . Unfortunately no one offers this design of wet liner for this engine . If you google rebuilding a Jaguar V12 engine you will see exactly how they overcome the problem of liner shift .The engine when assembled could withstand over 24 000 ft/lbs of torque and was also used as a mounting for gearbox and suspension because of torsional rigidity . An engine built by engineers with slide rules . Bear in mind that this V12 can be bored and stroked to over 9 litres using head spacers .

Well if you look imside the b series blocks you will see it has I will say material in between the sleeves where they join on the outside which won't let the block guard go down further, so it is not like it is going to sink, that just can't happen, and they get stuck in between the deck and the outer cylinder walls in some places so that is why you get different depts pressing it down but if you sand or port to match the guard you can get it right in position, so, it ain't sinking. Anyways the guard can be a piece of shit for sleeve safeguard.

What are you going to gap your rings at for the 500whp goal? I am building a similar set up but going for 600whp straight LS.. gapping top to 21 and second to 23..

So my question is will the close deck head gasket need to be changed to fit the new close deck design?
@VHBEngines
@VHBEngines 2 жыл бұрын
No. It has holes specifically machine in the slots the coolant passages are in the gasket

@@VHBEngines we are told that the css jobs use the oem gasket specs on the block ok I get that but wouldn't that not work if we use a better MLS gasket like cometic gasket? Toyota uses oem MLS gasket but the cometic gasket are a better quality from what the forums say.
@weliftnation2418
@weliftnation2418 2 жыл бұрын
@@VHBEngines I just txt Jeff and he said you can use either one but I then txt him a picture of the cometic one and it dosnt align with the new water jackets from the ccs job done on the block. It closer aligned with the oem one. He said Cometic gasket should work just fine but they have been putting crimps in weird spots so you have to be aware and put a relief hole if there is a crimp where the open water jacket used to be.

I think anyone doing work for others eventually has to come to this decision. There will always be ppl that can't make the right decision and will run something they shouldn't then blame someone else

My current build I’m getting together is a lsvtec b18 stock gsr head just springs + retainers,stock cams,pistons +rods and a precision 6266 .84 ar. You think the css will hold 400+ whp on pump 93 and 500whp+ on e85 reliably or is this pushing it?

Yes it will do it with no problem. I have a friend that made 522whp on css block and he will be going back soon for a retune to get over 600whp. I have the video of him making the 522whp on my channel. Also I chill with him a lot and he is always doing pulls and racing, no problems what so ever. Definitely worth it
