Great video. Very informative. It's encouraging to find valuable and innovative info on taking it to the next level in all aspects of the vehicle. I'm five years into my 98 Celica and appreciate all you've done with the WRX. Thanks for all the time and thought put into what you do!

I use an external single stage belt driven oil pump with a wet sump pan and 2 quart oil accumulator on my dragster. It’s a bracket car with a 565 big block Chevy.

Could you use a one way valve so that the oil doesnt run back to the pan from the tank when the car sits so that you dont need to prime the oil system?
@FlatironsTuning6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. that could certainly work. But you wouldn't want the valve to interfere with the the function of the pump, or the flow of the oil under normal operation. I'd recommend you work with the manufacturer of the system that you plan to use and follow their direction. Thanks for watching!

You will see these systems appear more and more on Production cars. As Manufacturers turn to Turbos in ever smaller engine displacements. Yet produce even more horse power. As they search for more MPG.... I'm beating Ford will be the first in their Eco Boost engines. Just look at the crank drive timing belt oil bath in the 1 liter 3 cylinder. I also never lost a bearing. Using a dry sump system. That was 40 years ago using regular oils....Now I did blow many an engines from valve float. As push rod cams just could not take the punishment...

Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching! Dry Sump oiling systems are pretty common on high-end sports cars, and race cars of course. But you are likely correct in that the benefits of this type of oiling system can be much greater on a turbocharged engine of almost any displacement. One thing is for sure, if they start putting them on cars from the factory, it will be a big step up from most current stock systems.

I don't think they have a choice. The Federal Government mandates will push them too. As their is huge HP gains and Reliability to be found with Dry Sumps. I even pressed a Ford Engineer to bring us mass market Dry Sump Oiling systems. As it makes sense. He looked at me with that stare. That I seen before. Like I was peeking under the hood of their proto type engine R&D department..As the saving is in units sold. Which they can bring down cost....
