Oilers fall in Game 5 versus the Canucks | Oilersnaton Everyday with Tyler Yaremchuk

The Edmonton Oilers fell 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks last night after JT Miller scored with less than a minute to play in the third period. It is now the second time in this series that the Oilers have held a two or more goal lead and lost the game.
Evander Kane and Mattias Janmark scored the two goals for the Oilers; however, a lack of scoring from the stars on the powerplay prevented the Oilers from taking the series lead. Calvin Pickard played outstanding between the pipes stopping 32 of the 35 shots he faced.
Game 6 is this Saturday in what is now an unexpected elimination game for the Edmonton Oilers. What do they need to do to survive? Its textbook charging, thats called more than the taking strides towards an oppenent in my experince, but ive only ever reffed junior b. Leaving your feet in any manner to check an opponent is charging, period, anyone who says otherwise is not educated on the topic. The refs got that one right, but they have been bad both ways more often than not.

Since when do Oilers fans memoriszd the whole NHL rulebook? If that was a Oilers player doing that I gurantee ya'll would have the same reaction. I have never seen that called in the regular season and it never will be called in the regular season, let alone in playoffs.

I don't understand where the idea that Skinner has a higher ceiling than Pickard came from? Stu has never been incredible, he was good in the regular season, awful in the playoffs. We've never really seen Pickard in the playoffs until now, and he's clearly better than Skinner. We've seen Skinner's ceiling in the playoffs, not good enough.

Interference?? Petterson literally had the puck and the Oiler did not. How does a guy WITH the puck get called for interference. Pettersons back is turned to the guy so how you think he's gonna 'throw an elbow' at him lmao.....Petterson doesn't even know where the guy is. Keyword of the rulebook is jump INTO..... Petterson jumped straight up..... it was the Oiler player that ran INTO him. If both qualifiers applied (aka JUMP and INTO), then yes a penalty.... when only one?? Not really a penalty. And if someone thinks that Petterson actually jumped into him they need their eyes checked.

Interference? He had the puck. Elbowing? What elbow? Charging? How exactly is he moving with speed towards his opponent? Everybody is conveniently ignoring the last sentence of the rule. Bad call. Especially in the playoffs.

I've been enjoying your guys show but your take on the Pettersson penalty is so off. Have you EVER seen a charging penalty called on someone that isnt moving? Please provide some evidence to back it up if so. Dont be ridiculous guys, your homerism is clouding your eyes. First off yes Petey did have the puck, otherwise why is Foegle the one skating at him to hit him? If you say Petey didnt have the puck then you're admitting to Foegle being the one charging, so that point is moot already. Yes he jumped, but he was not moving in any direction, the rule clearly says "JUMP INTO" how can you jump "INTO" anything if you are not moving and just jump straight up? Again there has never been a "charging" call called on someone that is not skating, so you're going to call the first one ever in game 5 in the playoffs? Come on guys take off the rose-tinted glasses. You guys would be livid if this happened to you. And to say "oh it doesnt matter cause we didnt score", while your team has the best playoff PP EVER is such a ridiculous thing to say. Oh and have you guys forgot already? Game 1 LAST YEAR vs the Kings. Go check the video of the end of the game and tell me your fans arent throwing stuff on the ice. What short memories you guys have.

You’re embarrassing yourself. Petterson didn’t jump straight upwards, if he did he would have been completely bowled over by foegele. He jumped INTO foegele while raising his elbow, which is by your own words the penalty according to the rulebook. Just because these guys are miswording it, doesn’t mean you can’t use your eyes.

People are really confused about something and the language being used here (both in the podcast and in the comment section) is totally throwing everyone off. Petterson did not jump straight upwards. If he did, he would have been completely bowled over by Foegele. He jumped INTO foegele. Huge difference. Not only did he jump into foegele, he did so with his elbow out. Clear penalty and if you were describing it properly, there’s nothing to argue about.
