At first I thought damn that sounds nothing like it but then when you put Kurt's tone I never realized how fizzy and thin Cobain's guitar sounds on the original record. I guess it's just being used to listening to the band mix.

Great job it sounds insanely close to the original recording! It's funny how people obsess about what guitar, amp and distortion Kurt was using for these songs, but the key to the Nevermind sound is actually in the multitracking, which makes it sound waaaay bigger than it is possible with one guitar in a live setting. If I remember well, Kurt actually didn't like the double tracking very much lol. But it's such an iconic sound, even if I'm with Kurt on how I prefer Steve Albinis production on In Utero.
@JordanRichardson9Ай бұрын
I think he only did multitracking because the producer told him that John Lennon did it

More gain. Don’t double the track, Take two separate tracks. And pan them left to right. I still hear the clean coming through on your recording. It sounds like a slight overdrive. Kurt used a ds1 through a fender bassman which starts to become fuzz like.

Hey dude I think it’s a real cool vid you made I think your fairly close but can I ask what pickups your using? because it sounds a lot thinner then the original it sounds like your on a single coils or some really low output humbuckers

You got it pretty close but that doesn't change the fact that Kurt's tone sucked ass.
