OK... THIS IS CRAZY COOL! A Resin Art Video by Daniel Cooper
Here is a Resin Art video of me experimenting with UV resin and hair shampoo, OK, the results are not going to be to everyone's taste, but, I think it's still pretty cool and it has given me more ideas to play with! As mentioned, a big shout out to @DuncanCustomAirbrush for the inspiration to try the wires! Here's Duncan's Vid below where he tried this technique:

Couple things I thought about while watching; Maybe slide the wire down into the shampoo and then sweeping it up through the resin to get the top that is left open. Also, maybe putting the resin in not in a filled in area but with an open middle so when you swirl the wire through, it's not such a solid chunk to see how that turns out. Just thoughts...! I would try myself but I can't currently afford to be so liberal with my resin as this technique requires. Good job on the projects and I agree and appreciate your open mindset about learning and being inspiring to each other through this video sharing method. It's a strange sort of brainstorming collaboration almost to do things this way, and it's good to seize it as an opportunity, not view it as a creator and poser type of situation, kudos! 👍

This is cool Daniel. Once you have the first dip done, you could immerse the piece and draw lines of coloured UV resin on the surface of the shampoo, then slowly pull up and turn the piece to create a pattern.

Hi Dan, I like it so much. Two ideas: #1 Making the top of the wire a T shape may help with the grip. #2 While the crystal is submerged the second time .. no light ... dribble resin down the wire enough to fill cavity void of resin, turn on light and swirl. This is so much fun!! Have a great day.

These are so coool!!! Can you do this again but make big spheres with lots of dips (bigger shampoo bottle probably lol). Maybe do one just clear but between each dip attach the nail art powders and on another magnetic nail varnish - it would layer those colours in a crazy way! If they are spheres or other random shape depending on how you build the support structure (could play with the colour wire of it too) you could turn them into lamps which i bet would be epic, highlighting the inner structure and givijg off great shadows!

Thank you so very much Daniel Cooper!!!! I intended to try resin many moons ago and purchased the resin along with a few other things. Unfortunately life got in the way, so the Resin etc was packed away in the box room. Since then I concentrated on paper crafts and forgot all about the resin, until Marion Emberson gave you a shout out on her channel. After watching only one of your video's I was hooked and have subsequently caught up on possibly all but certainly most of your video's. The video's that intrigued me the most were the petri effect and the sinker. So off to the box room I went, fully expecting the resin that had been sitting there for who knows how long to be useless. Rather than waste money, I decided to see if this resin was still usable for experimentation purposes and it was [it was a good quality resin]. I also made up some alcohol inks with mica powder and would you believe I had some white pigment paste; I was on a roll. Did the necessary last night, and have just de-molded. Almost Eureka!!!!! there was some slight evidence of the petri effect, which of course means I need to work on the sinker [in process as we speak] and had my colours not been on the anemic side [more work required] the final products could have been usable. Actually my test piece, which was a coaster, is usuable, it certainly works with red wine; haven't tried it yet with white wine. Not sure what your background is, but you are a natural teacher!!!! and I speak from experience

I love watching your experiments even though resin is not a medium I actively dabble in. And I really respect your attitude that while so-in-so was inspired, and tried something you’d put out as content, it in turn inspired and got your creative juices flowing in turn. 💕💕 I wonder, if you wanted things further up, if you partially submerged the wire frame, then added resin if it would cover the areas you wanted with a little more control? I do love the idea of putting things in a drill to get a more consistent spin… would a dermal or nail file have more adjustable speed settings then a traditional drill I wonder?

An idea. What if you put clear resin and then a colored resin into the still liquid resin and THEN put the wire and twist. I think it will make a very cool effect. For example, if you put clear resin and drop some blue resin inside the clear resin and twist the wire, it might look like a wave or water. And what if instead of twisting it around itself, you slightly stir from the outside in just once and then twist into a spiral? I am not sure if this makes sense but I hope it does. Or pull the wire slowly up while curing it so it kind of hangs. Just a few ideas.

Just a thought if you want just the top of it. To cover maybe leave it in the shampoo and drop some over the top and allow it to drop down over it.

Maybe use a hand drill with the wire mounted in the chuck for easier twisting.

This is insanely cool! I wonder if you let the resin start to drop, before you do the wire twirly thing, like in the original shampoo experiment, if it would cover the wire more thoroughly? Or, for the top part of the wire, add the resin after you put in the wire? Dunno, but wow! So cool!

To fill in the top part try putting the jewellery piece in the shampoo first then squeeze in the uv resin over the bare parts, spin the jewellery piece whilst curing with the uv lamp.

Hmm... It might be easier to put a thin layer of clear dipping resin on first, then doing this technique on top. They still turned out very pretty though. Maybe a lightweight drill would help? Just clamping in the wire and letting the drill turn it sounds good if you can get it to slow down a bit. Might be worth a try. 😉

I wonder what the effect would be if you added a little clear glue to the resin (like in your flower video)? A thicker resin might be cool to try! It might sink too fast though since it looks like it would be heavier... I just wonder!!!
