25 minute Attaché videos such as these take me about an hour to watch - continuously pausing and rewinding to take in the fabulous scenery and thoughtfully shot clips of the locations culture. Congrats and thank you for yet another excellently made piece to add to the channels collection. 😊

I have been to Ishigaki, it’s like a dream I can’t wake up from, a dream that stay at back of my head and support me to go through life, a dream I want to fulfill forever after retirement. When you say it’s your favorite place on earth, I both laughed and cried.😢

That is almost exactly how I feel. And I just had a conversation with somebody the other day saying nearly the same thing. It’s just that kind of place.

I've watched this video twice now and it's one of my favorites. Your channel has been my favorite travel channel for years and the quality just gets better and better. I'm a video editor for a KZbinr here in Japan and I'm really hoping we can experiment with videos like this someday! Oh and my wife and I went to Okinawa this past summer (my first time, she's been there many times) and it absolutely blew me away. I fell in love immediately. It's so different from the mainland.

I think Attache has genuinely been the most convincing travel channel I've come across. Every video is viewed as a "I'll probably go here in a few months", when I have a friend that wants to go somewhere, but they're still a tad unsure, I send them an Attache video on that destination and it never fails. I'm the solo-traveller friend to most of my friends, and within my family. I aim to do 2 to 3 trips abroad a year, but in all of my trips with friends (and come October 2024, my first with my almost twin older sister who's finally a fellow and can take a vacation) Attache videos is what sells them. I've gone to Berlin (twice), Barcelona, Paris, Rome, and Zurich with friends/family thanks to Attache, and for solo trips I've gone to Toledo, Madrid, Vienna, Berlin (solo, not included in the twice previously mentioned), went back to Montreal, Chicago, London and Amsterdam solo because of, or after a refresher from Attache. And in my queue of future Attache influenced trips are: - Copenhagen - Lisbon - Toronto - Seattle - Vancouver - Mexico City - Tokyo - Hong Kong - Helsinki - Stockholm - Florence - Athens - Budapest - Singapore

When I was in the USAF I was stationed in Okinawa. I really enjoyed that deployment and I had my first wife over there with me. My biggest regret in my life was not staying in the USAF for a career but got out after 4 years because the Officer trying to get me to reenlist made me mad when I told him I wound let him know tomorrow about signing up for another 4 years. He told me “quit yanking my chain you’re not stupid enough to turn this deal down. My Irish temper flared and I told him I wouldn’t sign the reenlistment contract even if He made the bonus double. So I got out. Stupidest mistake of my life. My Brother is USAF retired has a pension and retired benefits and all I have is good memories and a hat.

@attache I lived in Okinawa as a kid! Dad was in the military...loved the ocean..they taught us to look up under each tree before going under do to the viper snakes that would drop on you and kill you. I also played with a live grenade on the beach from WW2 that never detonated and mom freaked out and called the police and they came and took it away. So many memories in Okinawa! The hermit crabs we would collect from the beach and put in our pants and mom would check the pockets when doing laundry and scream!

Great video, and thanks for not overly highlighting the negativity of American military occupation. I was stationed there for several years and will be going back next spring for a few years. However, I do have to ask why you chose not to document the rest of Okinawa Honto? You don't have to go to Ishigaki to experience pristine beaches and laid back villages. Pretty much anywhere on the island other than Naha has that, especially the further north you go. I get that you're trying to show the shark contrast to Japan proper and the hustle and bustle of city life, but there's so much more to Okinawa than Naha and Ishigaki.

Dude, this brought back so many beautiful memories of my backpacking vlogging trip there 10 years ago. I'm dying to go back. You covered everything so beautifully. 100% agree with your comparison of Naha to Honolulu, and I've not even been to the latter. Guam though, I have, which feels like the other side of a mirror. If Okinawa is a part of Japan full of American influence, Guam is the reverse! It's Japan's Mallorca. 😂Did you ever manage to hop on a ferry from Ishigaki to Taketomi for the super rural experience? I also wanna see Miyako island too, the beaches look beautiful there.

Okinawa - where Japan meets Hawai'i ! Possibly one of the more perfect places on this Planet. Except for the locals really being "over" all the US service people... Did a Tour there back in the 80's, USMC. Can't blame them though, a lot of young men don't behave as well as the Japanese are accustomed to from their own young men = Culture Clash! Well done as always on the video, you guys are Aces!

Forgot to add more about the people of Okinawa too. How multi-generations are American and Okinawan (including me). Also, missed the mark on the cultural heritage. IMO military is more well traveled than the average person. This was a great travel ad for Zamami and Ishigaki though. lol

Thanks for this very nice video. Sadly, I find it difficult to become exited for Japan. I love (old) architecture, history and nice, calming spaces. I've dropped myself on street view in Japan so many times and looked at many cities, but their urban landscape seems like a place I would not find a lot of happiness in compared to old places in Europe. I would love to go for the food and to visit some actual historic places, but the cities really turn me off.

I would encourage you to go anyway. At least experience it in person. And don’t just stay in the cities, venture out to the countryside. You won’t regret it.
