You have no idea how much this song changed music for years if not decades after, perhaps saving pop from itself as has needed to be done multiple times. They came in and just wrecked all industry expectations for what the kids would like. I was part of this generation and man we came out of the 80s fucking disgusted and cynically as hell. I don’t think it’s random at all. A mulatto and an albino both deal with feeling and being marginalized, different. That’s Kurt. And “a mosquito, my libido” to me means he’s not feeling sexy at all, maybe from depression or fatigue but he is also alienated by his asexuality. That’s my take. But he’s not just spitting rhymes, he was actually a pretty thoughtful lyricist who wrote very personally.
