I have a question regarding Keratin, I have seen in your videos, you say that Keratin only works with heat, but I have so damaged, bleached, brittle blonde hair that I decided I will from now on stop using any heat, and let my hair air dry, anyways it is summer so why not. I splurged on Kerastase, I have seen you like it too, I have got the Kerastase Therapiste (for really damaged hair erosion level 3-4 is written on the package) I bought the shampoo (or the Bain as they call it),, the masque and the serum. But the serum contains some keratin (they call it fibra kap) so now my question, should I use heat or not. I want this serum to work, but do not know if I should use heat or not.

I have been using olaplex for some time (number 0, 3 , 4 and 5). My hair feels very soft after doing it :), but I noticed in the last weeks that my hair was very frizzy and that olaplex didn't help for that frizz. Yesterday I used the keratin mask from Kerastase and I can already see a huge difference :). There is definitely less frizz. In my opinion, olaplex helps when your hair is dry and to prevent further breakage/dryness but at some point you won't see changes in the appearance of your hair.

Hi sweetie. Hair can get something called protein overload (I googled), which makes it feel dry and be more vulnerable to breakage. Sometimes mine gets like that. I frequently combine a richer conditioner with the olaplex conditioner. 😘😘😘

Olaplex is not a protein treatment but a bond builder. However, you are still correct about potential protein overload with keratin. If someone has heigh protein/low moisture hair, the keratin will make the hair crispy :)

For those wondering, Olaplex does NOT contain any protein like keratin. It simply repaires disulfide bonds in the hair.

My favorite clarifying shampoo is Malibu C’s Un-Do-Goo Clarifying Shampoo for removing all buildup and minerals before doing my Olaplex Treatments!! It is important to use clarifying shampoos before other treatments and even just once every few weeks to remove product buildup, hard water mineral buildup and other buildups which can weigh hair down. I also like Joico’s Clarifying Shampoo as it is also moisturizing. But most brands seem to do the trick!! Awesome video, I want to try this!! You look stunning. Thanks.

Heidi no it is actually more gentle than most clarifying shampoos which i think is key in choosing one. Malibu C also has their “crystal gel” treatment that can remove virtually all buildup in one treatment. Definitely worth looking into some ❤️

The ingredient you wanna watch out for in Keratin treatments is Methylene Glycol. The EWG has a great list exposing what brands still contain it, even though they claim they don't. Personally, I've used the Pure Brazilian Clear keratin treatment when I do Keraplex treatments. Another very popular formaldehyde-free one is Brazilian Blowout Zero. Basically, please avoid ones with formaldehyde at all costs. Also, your hair turned out fantastic! 💕

Hi Heidi, It's me again. So let me tell you what I know about keratin, it can in fact leave your hair feeling a little dry and/or stiff if your hair doesn't really need it. When you apply keratin on hair that doesn't really have any kind of keratin loss due to damage it can get a keratin overdose and be dry stiff meaning that the moisture/protein combo is not well distributed as it should be. The reason some people find keratin treatments with formaldehyde is because some brands mask keratin treatments for hair health as a straightening treatments since keratin can leave your hair looking very smooth and straight. So in most countries as Brazil, United States and Australia you will find a lot of straightening services called "keratin treatments". They do have keratin but they also have straightening agents with them... so they are sold like treatments but you will get your hair relaxed or straight. For example a Brazilian Blowout. One of the reasons your hair never feels dry with keratin is mainly because your hair is bleached so you could use in fact some keratin, also your hair is very well cared and moisturized. On top of that, while you read the ingredients to your keratin, yours have dexpanthenol which is amazing because it is moisturizing. So you keep that moisture/protein on a good level because you replace both of them. Also one tip, you can in fact mix on the time of the application one dose or half a dose of that keratin you use on a hair mask and use it as a deep conditioning treatment. It will help you replace keratin and straighten hair without having to use it as a leave-in and blow drying and flat ironing.

ps: not on the jar though, mix it in a bowl or in your hands. You can also apply the pure keratin and then the mask on top of that let it pause according to the mask instructions and then rise. Love ya. Xx

I haven’t had this done in this order but I get my hair died black and I got keratin done and used olaplex 3 starting from 3 weeks after the treatment about once weekly and got 1,2 done later hair has never been so healthy! Remember to use a sulfate free shampoo as it makes keratin last longer ! Love your videos very informative might try this combo! xxx

I use evo smoothing shampoo its an Australian brand unsure if it’s available in other countries but maybe check it out it’s a cruelty free brand and vegan it’s awesome :) xx

Amen ! Just done with 4 day treatment. 1.(olaplex 0,3) deep cleanse, k18) 2-4. keratin. 4. olaplex complete (0,3,4,6,7,8). And whoooowww !!! My hair is bouncy, straight - only after blowdrying, frizz free, silky, shiny and feels strong !!! Absolutely repeating whole process after some time as it wears off!!! ❤️

Hi you mention using clarifying shampoo pretreatment...... not sure if you found one but the ones I have used previously have all been too drying for my hair (similar type to yours.... isn’t it the most frustrating!!) so I have now ended up using the clarifying then followed by my usual shampoo which is the olaplex which stops the barrier of anything like colour wow dream coat etc but also is a good enough test for treatments if you use your usual regular rather than clarifying too often as the main thing for a true test is changing just the thing your testing in your routine to give each product the same chance as any other x

In the US, we typically can’t get keratin outside of a salon. I had a treatment in a salon once and it absolutely ruined my hair. I’m still working to try to get it back to healthy over a year later. I’m scared to ever try it again.

Hey Heide , just found your channel and I loved it... well done in your content. Now about keratine treatment , be very careful about it. I m from Brazil where keratine treatment started getting very popular 15 years ago. With it fast results on look and the way that the hair feels straight way made people go mad about those treatments. Before in its composition use to have formol in its formula which started to be prohibited there also, but as salons were making soo much money they started making formulas and in its components they started using different name for the formol. As your product also have the weird smell I would hardly guess it does have formol in it . I would recommend you to research about every single component of it online and see. I m from Brazil but I live in Ireland where formol is also illegal, but this products are very easy to find here as now they are using other names for formol. Also with the fast results on the hair , people (family members) started doing too much of these “keratine “ treatment and now they barely have hair and regret soo much of one day doing it. Any way be careful using it , do a deep research! And well done for your Chanel ❤️

I have very frizzy hair with lots of volume. I hate the frizz but I love the volume when I blow dry them. Whenever I have tried keratine (3 times before) my hair lose the frizz but they also lose the volume.. is there any way to have the benefit of keratine without losing your hair's natural volume? Wow!!! Your hair looks amazing!! I bought a keratin treatment kit from amazon.ca some time ago but I still haven’t used it. It came with a clarifying shampoo, the treatment that is like a cream, and daily shampoo and conditioner. But when I read the ingredients it says it contains formaldehyde... so I got a little discouraged to use it. 😔 I thought it was weird that amazon was selling it but apparently it is forbidden to be used in a salon here but not forbidden to be sold 🤷🏻‍♀️... bc in a salon the professionals would be exposed to it repeatedly and that is what is not good for health... but still... I don’t know... i will try to find some other keratin like yours. i had a keratin treatment done in the salon in march and I loved it but it was not with olaplex. About the clarifying shampoo... i only use it once a month before colouring my hair... it makes it very dry. Then after colouring i do a olaplex treatment and then apply a mask with oils. It is pretty much a whole day just washing my hair one million times. Thanks for vid! 😘

Tat Oliveira Hi my friend! Definitely always be careful with formaldehyde. I’ve had friends with massive allergic reactions to it. They were even hospitalized. There has to be another brand that’s safer. If anyone here finds one, I will let you know. Someone mentioned global keratin. Research that one’s ingredients. Maybe you can have your Olaplex treatment at home before going to the salon? Hugs 🤗

Thats amazing, i bought the olapex before their where 6. I still have quite a lot left, its kept cool and we check it regularly. I'm lucky my hairdresser lets me take my own items in. Wouldn't be without it. My own hairdresser is very ill. So the week before last. (Think it was then) got a new person. My hair would have been 4 inches longer than yours its shoulder length now. So if my poorly girl makes it back to work. Only then will i step back into the shop. You look beautiful 💜❤💖

Ojalá te haya ayudado en algo. El proceso de aplicación suele ser el mismo para cualquier keratina. Comentame qué producto terminaste comprando Bella!

Actualmente estoy utilizando el "clarifying shampoo" de neutrógena que justamente dice que retira cualquier "build up" y las mascarillas e incluso mis shampoo de uso diario (Olaplex No. 4 y Pravana intense therapy) me hacen mucho mejor efecto! estoy verdaderamente impresionada :O (Digo... por lo que comentabas del shampoo... jejeje)

I am dying researching here!! I got a full keratin treatment done and I am trying to find out if olaplex shampoo and conditioner would be safe to use without stripping my treatment. Hi Heidi; great video! The Redken Cleansing Cream (I think that's what it's called) gets rave reviews as a purifying shampoo. Also, I love the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo. I do this Olaplex and keratin treatment together as well - works really well.

I am trying both Olaplex no2 and keratin express (brasil cacau) today. I'm using the Brasilian hair seduction restoring shampoo (all of these are my first time) .. I have what we call 'South African Coloured (formerly called Khoi, though my hair is not that coarse *I'd like to think) Hair" .. I don't highlight my hair, I use dye (usually ammonia free) .. my hair is fairly healthy I think.. been using a lot of sulphate free- paraben free product (Carol's Daughter *Rhassoul clay, Cantu *this makes my hair really thick though, Shea Moisture etc) .. My Mon used relaxer on my hair since the age of 9, and if I don't use it, it looks dull, dry, damaged, but I think we aren't applying it "professionally", my hair breaks *specially at the back, and it won't grow.. so I'm hoping ..these two products can help with the general dryness and growth of my hair. 🤞

Just to add, I .. what some call 'overproduct' .. I saturate, marinate my hair too.. coz I feel I don't get the required result of I just use ... Scoops of product on my hair

Kerastase GENESIS Bain Hydra-Fortifiant or Blond Absolut Bain Lumére Or Bain Stimuliste these are all CLEAR, Silicone-Free and relatively simple formulas (For Kerastase) with few ingredients and should provide a "Clean Slate" to work with.

WOW!!!!! What an amazing result Heidi, your hair is looking more softer and silkier than it normally does after using these two products. As I’ve mentioned to you before you have such beautiful hair. I think in this case the extra time and effort was well worth it. I’ve read you can use Head and Shoulders instant oil control shampoo as a clarifying shampoo as it doesn’t strip your hair of moisture as some clarifying shampoos can do. Maybe worth you looking into this further. Another fantastic review and video gorgeous xx

Prueba el keratin miracle de davines, muy recomendado para cabello maltratado, se una como mascarilla pero es un suero que se sella con acondicionador humectante, es muy antifaz y reparador. Tu cabello quedará súper liso al usar secador y cepillo. Y lo mejor es que no cambia la textura del cabello, en chile se venden en pichara, no se en argentina
