Sad fact: When Kyle speaks about the photograph of Sarah, he always used to wonder what she was thinking in that moment. At the end of the scene, when the picture is finally taken, we found out in that moment she was thinking of him all along.

Imagine you are living in 1984, you are 7 years old and watched Terminator for the first time. That was my experience and it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. Terminator 2 was arguably better but the first Terminator movie is Nostalgiac.

James Cameron is a genius. Making Kyle give his life for Sarah resonates deep down inside us. It makes Kyle a self-sacrificing, Christ-figure hero, instead of just a hard-core soldier. There is an oddly elegiac tone here for a sci-fi action film. Sad but inspirational.
@MDBowron
@MDBowron 2 жыл бұрын
well John Connor himself is like the return of Jesus Christ, making The Terminator film in ways a Nativity STory, with Sarah being Mary, Kyle being Gabriel the angel of prophecy and Joseph, and The Terminator Herod's soldiers sent to kill the MEssiah before he's born. It's also a fantasy time-travel post-apocalyptic war action retro period historical drama thriller mystery police procedural horror sci-fi dark comedy religious epic romance

How on Earth can you compare Kyle to Jesus when Kyle wasn't capable of Godly acts of healing???? Plus, Kyle was a thief, and therefore a sinner, so I'm offended by you making such a comparison.
@STEJTHEGREATEST

@@MDBowron John Connor never returned like Jesus Christ, as he was never killed, and never came back from the dead. Also, Jesus never needed anyone to protect Him. There was a time in the Bible when a bunch of jews tried to kill Him in rage at His Teachings, but because the time hadn't yet arisen for Jesus' Sacrifice, Jesus simply made it impossible for his assailants to physically touch Him as he departed from their company.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger who is the Terminator in this movie, but is is one of the most famous body builders of all time along with a whole bunch of other fields including real estate and politics. He has plenty of movies he's stared in that you'd love to react to and was one of the most iconic action movie stars of the eighties and nineties. That man has ambition and determination running through his veins.

Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton broke her ankle before filming. It was still injured when she did the scene where she and Kyle run down the hill as the truck chases them. James Cameron told her that if she fell, she would have to roll to the right as the semi-truck would not be able to stop. During the take as she was carrying Kyle, she felt her ankle start to give out and she had to grit her teeth and barrel through the pain because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time. What a trooper.

I could tell how much you enjoyed it. So glad you picked up on the soundtrack as well. It's something I've always enjoyed in the movie myself. Brad Fiedel did such a great job with it. This and Conan the Barbarian helped launch Arnold Schwarzenegger to superstardom, after he was a highly successful businessman and bodybuilder. Director James Cameron got inspiration for this movie from a fever dream and John Carpenter's Halloween. Linda Hamilton starred in the film adaption of Steven King's Children of the Corn after this. Director James Cameron followed this up with the screenplay of Rambo: First Blood Part 2, Aliens, the Abyss, Terminator 2, True Lies, Titanic, Sanctum and Avatar. To see Arnold as a bodybuilder, I highly recommend watching the bodybuilding docudrama Pumping Iron

FUN FACT: Arnold Schwarzenegger was originally planned to play Kyle Reese while others were considered to portray the title character. This includes Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone and even O.J. Simpson, whom director James Cameron passed over because he didn't believe he would be a convincing killer (insert irony joke here). However when Cameron met Arnold, he instantly saw him in the role. Arnold was reluctant at first because he didn't want to portray a mindless killer, but agreed because the movie was so underground at the time that if it failed, it wouldn't hurt his career.

Absolutely love this movie glad you did too and got to go back to some scifi nostalgia. As you were geussing the logic of the film I was like "hey her scifi logics coming back!" That's always so enjoyable to reaction from people. The second movie is a masterpiece as well. Many claim it's better then the first. In concept to me they are equal. But the second movie has such a budget, and is so chock full of new elements and a new story and has such a different atmosphere but it works so, so flippin' well. I think you'd really love it at least as much as this one. At least.

Two-edged sword when it comes to having children: On the one hand, it's a horrible and dangerous existence for them. On the other hand, reproduction must occur to prevent a gap in the human race that will enable the machines to win. This latter point was made in the 2003 Battlestar Galactica re-imagining. Ultimately, the question is answered by the fact that people are people, and things will happen.

The 80's were full of music and colors and fashions. It was a more positive time when we felt that we had a bright future ahead. It was a mercy that we couldn't see the future we actually got where people are permanently offended, angry, and violent. Everything today is bland: the music is processed by computers and all sounds the same, shopping is done online (God, I miss the malls) and every store and restaurant is a shade of brown- movies today are just CGI porn with no character developments or plot lines and devoid of all creativity. Nobody laughs anymore. That is what I miss most about the 80's, everywhere you went their was laughter and people having fun and joy. All gone now.

It was only a couple of years ago it dawned on me that John manipulated Kyle into falling for Sarah & that those hours that Sarah said she & Kyle had together they loved a lifetimes worth was utter bs. They never had time to really get to know each other & their supposed love in the sack was just them banging each other they were desperate for human contact because they were being hunted by a futuristic machine that never eats or sleeps it's always one step behind them. As Kyle said "It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with, it feels no remorse, pity or fear & it absolutely will not stop ever until you are dead" such chilling words. In Genysis when Kyle gets pissed at Sarah for not telling him he was dad with Sarah firing back that she didn't tell him anything for two days whereas John kept the truth from Kyle his whole life. So really Kyle should be angry at John not Sarah Jai & Emilia's chemistry so off that I didn't want them getting together I rather see Sarah's adventures & relationship with Pops you really by Arnold & Emilia as father & daughter.

Sarah Connor begins as a family restaurant waitress, and has an epic Hero's journey. "Los Angeles, 2029: Bender Bending Rodriguez' ideal world of the past." 36:42 Ask your grandparents or older folks who lived through World War II. Life was basic and fast between the whiz of bullets, the whine of aerial bombs and explosions. 44:52 That is some obsolete technology there. It's an Eastman Kodak Kodamatic 940 that used Kodak Instant Picture Film, co-developed by Kodak and Fuji. Polaroid, miffed at Kodak's attempt to "get a slice of the action," sued Kodak Instant Film out of existence before "disappearing like Pontiac." Fuji was allowed to "keep it domestic." Fuji Instax is a descendant of that technology, and the last one standing, photographically. The ghost of Rochester still makes some motion picture and still film, but it is a shadow of it's former self.

If you do plan to watch Terminator 2, please watch the original Theatrical Cut. Don't watch the extended or uncut version, those extra scenes and alternate ending actually ruins the movie. In this case, more doesn't make it better, it actually makes it worse. Also Terminator 3 while nowhere near the level of Terminator and Terminator 2, but it is actually quite entertaining. There is a Terminator game already. Its called 'Terminator Resistance" which came out in 2019. So far its been getting good reviews, some even better than all the post T2 films.

Favourite movie of all time. Funny this was made from a nightmare James Cameron had.

Kyle and Sarah releases their sexual energy to somehow get a clearer in their mind so I’m thinking instinctual there so not very unrealistic pain and pressure or closely connected in our brains

You’ve reacted to quite a few emotionally heavy dramas, now this classic sci-fi/action/horror film. Now I’m recommending something skewered someplace else. The classic sci-fi comedy!! “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” (1989) Take break from all the intense and have some laughs

I'm sure others have said this in the comments, but you have to watch T2 the sequel to this movie. To many, myself included, it's even better than this movie.
Wait for it 😂
