MT is one of the great writers of Malayalam. His Randam Uzham got the highest literary honor in India. His movies have won the highest awards. He is considered to be one of the leaders of modernity in Malayalam literature and cinema. To me, he is a great writer who always found a new path for Malayalam literature throughout his career. His restoration of the character of Chanthu in Oru Vaddakkan Veeragatha was Mammootty's greatest ever performance and a literary achievement of the highest caliber. However, he was not a naturally gifted writer like Basheer or S K Pottekadu
