Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video we are talking about the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Max cream and how this might just be one of the biggest scams in skincare.
When it comes to choosing a retinol for your skincare routine, its important to know exactly what your putting on the skin. Olay refuse to disclose the concentration of retinol but still claim that their product gives you some of the best retinol results over the counter.
Without knowing the concentration it leads us to think, what do Olay have to hide. This coupled with the fact they use some of the weakest forms of retinoid around means you are unlikely to get Max results with this like the label would imply.

An update: after using this product for 5 + months now- the effects kind of plateaued. It’s not continuing to improve my skin and I’ve also noticed that it wasn’t fixing some stubborn dark spots anymore. I’ve stopped using it and I’m choosing to use natural alternatives like pure moringa oil and sour cream to address the dark spots and so far so good! 🙌

It's an encapsulated retinol so it is stable. In addition to this low percentage of retinol, it also contains Retinyl Propionate, which does have evidence supporting its efficacy. A decent product for beginners or sensitive skin.

I have to disagree. My mom is 75 and she is not all wrinkly. She used Olay like forever ! I started with olay too when I was in my late 20s 30s and at late 30s people thought I was 25 ! I am into so many skin cares now but I am grateful forever with Olay

It’s the best one I’ve found. I didn’t notice a difference with Neutrogena or Revlon. There are several that I have used and this has been the best one for me, this far 🤷‍♀️

If I am not mistaken this one and Neutrogena have clinical trial to back the efficacy, so they are actually the best shot among others. Remember, retinol doesn't need to be in high concentration to work! Formulation is ming.

I can assure you it's potent. I gave it to my 65 years old dad and it did smooth the fine lines around his eyes. It even evened out his face. However, his face looked a little bit irritated after using it daily. I couldn't use it for three days straight. Maybe it's the niacin amide..I don't know 🙄 Another thing jar packaging issue is just a myth. Companies use jars because they came up with their own way to stabilize certain sensitive ingredients.

im so glad it worked for your dad, thanks for sharing.. the jar issue isnt a myth though, a study was done recently on a range of retinol products and the rate of degradation which shows no matter the formulation the rate of degradation is high. formulating can reduce it down but not much and so its just lazy of brands to package retinol in jars and for £30 Olay should be doing better in my opinion.. love x

Well, I'm not sure it was a scam for me. I've had this weird ass red circle on both my cheeks for years and after 2 weeks of using this, it disappeared. That and the skin on my face is brighter and smoother. Maybe I've got sensitive skin and it had enough retinol to do the bare minimum. :P

Its a good question and studies show that when exposed to oxygen that retinol degrades pretty quickly (around 60-80% gone by month 6) so I think it better to have it in a pump to minimise oxidation.. love x

That Olay product never worked for me, the best drugstore retinol I ever used was the Cerave resurfacing serum in the blue and white bottle. My under eyes looked noticeably better in weeks, I was shocked, currently on Tretinoin but still love that serum!
