I went and saw this with my sister. She wanted to see it and I was interested in seeing it. Personally, although my sister didn't like this movie, I thought it was average at best, or at least close to it. I will say that I had read Sandcastle, the comic that was the basis for this movie. It had a darker and depressing ending than this film, not to mention that there was some graphic content like nudity. I kid you not. All I can say is that I was glad that I saw and got it out of my system.

One other thing, Matt, I must say that if you think that M. Night Shyamalan is a hack at writing and directing movies, I think David Cage is his equivalent when it comes to video games. Games like Indigo Prophecy (or Fahrenheit as it's known overseas), Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human, they are as bonkers as an M. Night Shyamalan film.

@bigideas32 жыл бұрын
I always think of the line from Happy Gilmore - "You can't take her house, she's too old." M Night gets to do some of these movies because he self finances them. In the special features he said some of the camera moves were done to show the passing of time or something like that. One of his daughters was a second unit director and another wrote the song the girl sings in the film.

@@Johnlindsey289 Agreed! Sadly I used to like The Visit (2015) but when I rewatched it last year it really doesn’t hold up at all the direction, the scares, the writing, the story and the fucking humor especially at the end with the brother with his shitty rapping song and it’s one of M. Night’s most overrated movies while The Sixth Sense wasn’t really that great of a movie at all but it’s a fun movie it’s definitely miles better than The Visit. Signs should have been his last movie to direct and write after that he shouldn’t have directed another movie ever again especially The Last Shitbender

I have no interest in seeing this movie, but I was interesting in watching the review/rant. Also, 2021 has been a weak year for movies. Only ones I've liked are Those That Wish Me Dead, The Suicide Squad, The Conjuring 3, and Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 & 1. I haven't got to watch that new Jason Statham movie, but I'm sure I'll like it. I still need to watch Nobody as well. I might add Jungle Cruise to the list of movies I liked. It was an okay movie. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it. I may need to watch it again though. I'm sure I'll like Halloween Kills, so I could probably add that to the list ahead of time. But yeah. Everything else has been kind of a letdown or forgettable. I'll probably still buy Fast & Furious 9 on Blu-Ray just for series/franchise completion purposes, although I may watch it one more time just to make sure the disc doesn't skip or anything.

I like most of his films except those that are considered terrible that most areas agree on. I tend to agree with the majority on M Night movies as for the Visit I thought it was alright to me that was a Horror Comedy B movie that had the inherent silly feeling that made me laugh I had an alright funny time with it. I have heard mixed things about this one, haven't seen it myself. I liked Sixth Sense Sign's Unbreakable Split Glass The Visit, I thought The Village was alright but suffered from a weak twist that didn't feel earned. I hated After Earth Air Bender and found The Happening so bad, it's a great comedy. Lady in the Water I don't remember much about, but I think I like most of the liked M Night movies and hate generally the ones majority do. So I think I'm standard with M Night movies. I think people give M Night money because his movies make money, he has a fan base from his stuff I think, even if it's a cult fan base. Even when M Night makes a bad movie people seem to like it even as a joke, so from what I gather people just seem to like his stuff even the bad ones.
