When the buzz and bleep world wearies me; and I yearn for respite. I find solace in a walk alone, on the barren Moorland height. No flowered glades or pasture. No bright birdsong filled trees. Yet in it’s wild majestic starkness; more beautiful than these. Best of all are the rainy days, when the whitened clouds hang low: Pale orange sunlight, tinting the hills, with a gentle, heavenly glow. Few are those, who venture, on such days to higher ground. As sweet nature softly sighs, when there’s no one else around. High solitude is a thing to bless, it calms the heart and mind. Any wanderer one may meet, is a soul mate of your kind. Some may briefly sit and share the hot fluid from a flask. But conversation is always slim. No questions there to ask. Mostly, another encountered, will pass by, with a smile and a nod. And you know that they wish to be alone; as you are with your God. For whatever God may be or not, on the lofty wasteland place: Here is splendour. Here is glory. Here is the stillness of true grace. Long may you continue to continue Mr Patrick, you're an inspiration to all of us .

Thanks very much for bringing back some great memories of Kinder and surrounding area. We did this wild camping in the 1970s. One of the trips we did in winter on the top of Kinder was in a plastic bag ,only one night duecto the condensation. My friend Roy and i did it in the snow ,there were no insulation mats then ,we used 12 ,12 inch polystyrene tiles taped together to open into a mat ,very good insulation on the snow.tried the plastic bag twice ,could not overcome the condensation. Better as a bivvy. Thanks again for these memories, im there now on the top of Kinder . We are both from Sutton Coldfield so 1.5 drive and we are there. Also we have done most of the caving up there for many years ,the memories coming back .Knotlowe mjnes ,awesome. We are both over 80 now ,but still do walks up there ,but not so long. Take care everyone. Thanks again for the memories. Roy and John.

I was up near Hope Cross hammock camping last Friday completely out of sight in the Woods. Put the tarp up then walked all round to check it was out if sight. Only thing was the weather was terrible, never stopped raining and blowing till the early hours. Walked over to Crowden head area with a view to camp for a second night but my usual spot was a bit soggy and I had been up to my knees in a peat bog. Good day to you Patrick. Good on you getting to 66, i am a year behind you and share your passion for life as you obviously do. Do not forget to get that bus pass !! And use it. I am unfamiliar with the Peak District and you have shown it off beautifully with your drone footage. Thank you. You touched on the trespass issues, and you have a plan. My thoughts exactly. Crack on Patrick. Regards Mike, County Durham

Your videos Patrick are the only ones I never fast forward, just watching the whole thing, as intended, from start to finish. It would be cool to see "behind the scene" video - what does it actually takes to make such an awesome story, besides the awesome story itself... gear, your thinking process what to film, how to film, what works for you, what doesn't, production challenges, post-production workflow, etc. Thanks again. I really enjoyed it. Bless you. Stay well and hope to see you soon again

Hi Alex, and thanks, if you look at a video I made about 6 months ago, it explains all my thinking behind a video and how I film it called, How I make a KZbin Video. Amazing up there, thanks Pat

It’s 50 yrs ago since I last camped on Kinder. Me and the Mrs went up from Edale. We dropped into a peat dip crossing Kinder, couldn’t climb out so decided to follow it to the downfall. We then skirted round to just above the Snake where we camped. Lovely memory. Must add. It was a Friday in August. I’d finished work at 4pm in Doncaster. By train from there to Sheffield and on to Edale. Then the climb up kinder and tent up before dark. At 78 I’m now knackered walking into town. My mother told me the knees go first, she was right

Been up kinder twice in a week. In love with the beauty of the place and there's that much to see I keep getting lost😂 ended up away a few miles from Edale in a farmers field with with my son. The hike was one of the best days I've ever had. My son and I were blown away. Your videos are helping give me the confidence to get my tent up there and the therapeutic northern accent accompanied by lots of rain drops makes for relaxing bed time viewing. Very well produced and thoroughly entertaining. Keep up the good work😎

I'm just 18 months behind you Pat but if I can keep doing it like you I'll be happy. It's a shame we can't wild camp in England but to be honest I would hate to think what some places would end up like if we could, some folk just don't give a damn. The mantra "leave no trace" falls on deaf ears for some. Pat Dickinson, the legend of Sheffield.

Brilliant video Patrick. Excellent drone footage. Usual wonderfully natural, highly informative, educational and enthusiastic presentation. This one is up a level. Or rather it is worthy of a whole episode, within a tv series. All the best mate 73. You know some of these places would be excellent operating locations for Amateur / Ham Radio portable ops, maybe even pmr to start with. Small portable pack, minimal power, discrete wire aerial. Loved your shed pub vids.
@patrickdickinson64923 жыл бұрын
Radio certainly sounds interesting, it's strange that some places up on Kinder, you get a strong 4g signal,move 400 meters and there is nothing. Such a beautiful area, had to take the drone to show the area off.... thanks Pat 👍
