fyi this song was actually composed by Marcin despite the polyphia vibes and will be in his next album, though he was intentionally writing in their style given who he was featuring

It's worth noting how much of these newer guitar techniques come from more technical bass guitar players like Victor Wooten. Tosin Abasi's double thump technique comes straight from the bass guitar playbook.

If you want to hear Polyphia with string arrangements check out their song Culture Shock off their album Renaissance. The song Amour off that same album is also very melodic and tasteful and not as technical as some of their newer stuff. I haven’t heard a song by them that I haven’t loved.
@thomasrowley42457 күн бұрын
I do not think Marcin was playing in DADGAD. I think I noticed he taps with his left hand when he needs a sympathetic tone for that open string sound. So many notes, so few fingers...Two incredible players changing the guitar forever. (rest in peace Al Petteway!)

Are you thinking of Crush?
@Anonymous389j19 күн бұрын
Yup, that's the one. As a musician myself (piano player) that's a a song that struck me as well. It's not for the technical abilities of the players, but for the melody and the song writing. I heard Polyphia for the first time in 2020, and while i love all of their albums, Crush still comes back to my mind very often. I had never heard an instrumental like that.

Is it just me or does it sound very similar to g.o.a.t. But with a slight timing change and noodling around on just the basic melodic concept? Does that even make sense. There is something that is just hitting me as being a little too similar or something for me to really settle into it.

Lots of flashy technique, kudos to both of them. To be honest tho. it leaves me completely cold. With all the amazing classical and flamenco compositions out there, there's plenty of other stuff I'd rather listen to. When a particular technique set is so front and forward in your style, composition will almost always be limited by that.

A my mamy frajdę.
@DDracee21 күн бұрын
@@RADIALPUDDLE seems you're confusing style and actual composition, cuz there's literally not a single matching sequence of notes between this, goat, and playing god though he is intentionally matching polyphia's style given who he was featuring, testament to Marcin's flexibility if anything there was more parallels with neurotica, prob harder to tell through the distortion
