I think it literally IS the Amala theme and that Atlus recorded the SNES version of the track to get it for Nocturne and this is just a cleaned up version from the if... OST or an actual SNES

Wholly unique, the "Demon Emperor" form of the main antagonist- Hazama- in one route. In others he's in a distorted human form instead. SMT If's been translated so you can see it for yourself ingame, too.

@@BiggusWeeabus found out in the mean time, it's the normal boss theme for the Akira route in the ps1 version (and I guess psx too) of if. Akira route is basically ng+ only. the snes version uses the smt I boss theme.

No. Tsukasa Masuko was already not working with Atlus by the time this version of the game was released. Kenichi Tsuchiya simply understands very well how to emulate the style of Tsukasa Masuko.
