Old Engine Restoration Start to Finish: Ford 300 Inline Six (ASMR)

POWERNATION

3 жыл бұрын

POWERNATION stumbled upon this rusty old Ford 300 Inline Six that started life as an industrial water pump. This rusted-out old engine showed up to the shop in need of some serious restoration if it wanted to perform. With the knowledge of the team and the tools to match, they were able to transform this seemingly unsalvageable engine into like-new condition.
This model engine was introduced to the public in 1965 and enjoyed 31 years of production. Known for its durability, ability to last 300,000 miles without issue, and substantial low-end torque output, it was trusted in UPS trucks all over the country, making this project all the more exciting for the team.
It's a classic restoration project you can't miss. Sit back and enjoy this ASMR version of our Ford 300 rebuild.

I am used to working on ship's engines. I have done that for forty plus years. It is an absolute pleasure to watch two professionals working, knowing exactly what they are doing and not having to explain every step. Absolutely perfect. I did my training and my degree in Germany so please accept my comments as the utmost compliment

I saw a video on huge engines. Well some of them looked to me to be almost as big as a building. I had no idea what they could be used for. One of the comments from a view was that such engines were used in ships. Then it more or less made sense.

This show has the best real life discussions compared to the other shows. I used to watch the other shows as well, but they have become so scripted and fake. Don't enjoy that at all. This is the last show I watch because of the hollywood scripting. This video was nice with none as well....

@@reviewaccount469 I disagree. Well - sort of! I do agree that if they did the entire show exactly like this, it would be very dry and lifeless. But I do think the current production leaves out a LOT of fun and interesting detail in the sounds. What I'd like to see is this level of sound detail but with all the current commentary and graphics they do.

@@johndowe7003 My Mom's 1982 Ford Granada is an inline 6, front/rear main seals worn/rotted out, the block might stand to be recast, might recast the exhaust manifold, intake, but also, would mechanical fuel injection work better, since the 1982 Granada has NO computer? According to the spec sheet, a 2.3 liter, 3.3 liter, and 3.8 liter would fit the Foxbody chassis well, what about a 302 V8? how tight would that work? Yet I'm in Texas and I don't know of any shops in Texas that might help me?

@@lawnmowermanTX im in texas as well, what part you in? you can swap a 302 off a mustang into it, but honestly i would just buy a newer i6 ford from a junkyard and take the efi stuff off and install a carb, way easier and cheaper. the 302 and i6 have the same bellhousing pattern so if you go that route it can work also. id suggest a 302 off a 99 explorer better built than a 302 off a foxbody, also the 302 came with a heavy crankshaft so dont get one off a bronco or truck cause it wont work in a car

@@johndowe7003 Well I’m only fishing around to find out how much it costs. Covid-19 and the Great Resignation overwhelmed mechanics and sadly they refuse to rebuild a worthless old worn I-6, in Central Texas. It’s all about hot rods and custom made super charge engines and performance deal.. I don’t have any desire to outrun police cars, helicopters and bullet trains.. lol just peppy and economic to do Warp 9.5 and not drain the 16 gallon tank… It’s my mom’s car and she passed away on July 2, 2014.

@@lawnmowermanTX less than 2000$ if you do the work yourself. honestly its not worth to rebuild a clapped out i6 better just to engine swap it with a newer i6. i figure you can buy a used engine for less than 500$ lotta junkyards in SA some will even pulll the motor out for ya

Industrial stuff usually gets serviced , not forgotten about. I still see the old fords all the time on generators. For the most part the oil gets changed annually , doesn't matter if it's got 5 or 50 hours it's getting dumped. Especially cause it's LP fuel. If ya ran alot, call us because it's probably a good idea to change the oil around 150-200hrs of straight running. Pretty rare for a standby to have to do that.

Back in 1977 I think ! the ford f-100 . Standard with a straight six was the fastest stock vehicle. My neighbors had a brand new one and his son totalled it rolled it down a hill. They towed it home when I saw it tears down my eyes. The next day it was gone a guy bought it just like that cause of the engine he said. That's how hot those motors where ! Panamanian police used these trucks with six's for there highway patrol in the 70's n 80's hard to get away from them . Now it's all bikes. Nice job master mechanic great work. Man it's seriously gorgeous in that white and blue combo. Final coat of paint on a motor really sells the whole thing.

Header, intake, carb and HEI. Standard Saturday afternoon driveway mods doubled the HP. Love it.

Love these straight six’s. I would have loved to see more of the dyno curve because I am sure it’s making good torque over a wide RPM range.
