I like the narrative intros. If you know nothing about AOS lore, they give insight into what the faction is all about. Stats and playstyle are important, but so is your personal connection to the folks you're sending into slaughter.

One big perk of having your main battleline be pretty old: its from the era of huge customization, there are soooooooo many bits and extra options on each sprue.

HeyWoah your Faction Focuses are some of the most informative content around for AoS and you're great. I wish 40k was more diverse just to create the opportunity for you to dabble in those armies as well.

As a beginner in 40k, is there actually anything like heywoah for each faction?

@@marioricomeza2839 the hard part right now for finding good faction based content for 40k is that 9th edition was very recently dropped, and the coronavirus stuff has slowed releases down to even slower pace so a lot of content hasnt been updated with new info. For article based info for each faction i recommend the goonhammer start competing series, and they have them separated based on which have been updated for 9th edition. For videos, Tabletop Titans have great gameplay videos as well as a few faction focus videos. Auspex Tactics also tends to do deep dives on many areas of 40k and is one of the fastest sources of updates.

What do you mean? 40k is very diverse, you might just be too focused on space marines.

@@taserrr When this comment was posted in October 2020 we were sitting four months into 9th edition with space marines and necrons being the only codexes to show for it. The winning game plan at that point in the edition heavily favored some 8th edition armies and made multiple others extremely difficult to stay on even ground with, go check out the late 2020 tournament results. Also AoS has so much more visual diversity between armies it's unreal. It's like if every 40k faction was xenos.

It would fun if the ever winter did something. Maybe allow the yetis be summoned on the board edge. Something like turn 2 they can come on your board edge, turn 3 the sides and turn 4 your opponents.

Feast of Bones was such a great deal for starting Ogors. That + one SC BCR and you got a nice diverse army. Or just stock up on BCR boxes and play them "pure". 3 could be enough for 2000 points if you use battalions.

Firebelly is a personal top 10 model ever. Maori Warrior island fire dancer vibe and such an incredible sculpt. I like the imagery that he uses his fire cloak spell to keep him warm in the everwinter blizzards. A 4+ smite shooting attack is awesome and one of his spells gives out a massive bubble of -1 to hit. Honestly I wish they would flesh out that lore more. I want to run 6 of them in a 2k list hahahaha🔥🔥🔥

Your description of what makes Mawtribes difficult to play reminds me of the Human team in Blood Bowl. It's sold to beginners as, "This is easy to play because they're straightforward models without a lot of rules", but that lack of specialization and fancy tricks/gimmicks actually makes them one of the hardest teams to play (as they're entirely reliant on just playing the game well) and thus one of the worst starting picks for a new player. It sounds like Mawtribes are in a similar boat.

I still think butchers should have been priests, invoking the hunger of Gorkamorka. Would help with the ability to actually get off their buffs/debuffs and with that could change the mawpot to be a bonus to priests which in turn helps the Beastclaw priest.

Very much enjoyed this and I'd been looking forward to it for a while. I made a Boulderhead monster mash list my 'Lockdown Army' and built it but never got round to painting it. It's not the optimal build as I went for Frostlord on Stonehorn, 2 Huskards on Thundertusk, then 2 Stonehorn Beastriders and a Thundertusk Beastriders but I was mostly building to try and make them look varied and give me something fun to run. A group of mates are doing a monthly hobby pledge and it's got me excited about painting my BCR again. If I enjoy them when we can get back to playing I reckon I might try out either all Stonehorns all the time, or a mix of Stonehorns and Mournfangs.

I'm currently painting a kit bashed butcher and also building me a slaughtermaster, I already got a new base and a pot I found for a DND Set, now I just need to spray paint the slaughtermaster and once he's done. Attach the chain. but before I do I got to put one more Gnoblar to my slaughter master as his "Crew" And I've collected so many kits with the extra parts to make regular gluttons that I can pretty much make a full unit and more of globlar squads

I am in love with the thunder tusk models and you mentioned about running "7 of them" when I checked general handbook it seems to be limited to 4 behemoths in a 2k match play game. Is there something I'm missing? Love the video the information and lore involved was great :)

Yes, as per the FAQ, when a behemoth gains the Battleline keyword, they lose the Behemoth keyword (though they are still a monster). As such, there's no force organization chart limit on the number you can run.

For what it's worth, Ogres are the most telling case of GW being bored to flesh out the moral and social greys in AoS. "Ogres fat, hungry, wanna kill civilisation, kill them first". Gosh, could you be any more of an uninspired manichaeist, dear Josh Reynolds? "Chaos bad because, uhmm... they kill. Kill them. Theyre bad, trust me". Not to mention the great snippets from the core books talking about how "civilised bright-white Sigmar colonised the savages". British much...? I've wanted to build a Gutbusters army for over a year now, including before the new codex. I think the models are awesome. Everything I look at online says they're terrible. It makes me hesitant to take the plunge and spend the money on them. My second choice would be Ironjawz.

I tried out Kragnos in BCR on TTS, and he's probably too expensive for how much the rest of ogor stuff costs, but 3D6 charges with stonehorn impact hits are Fun.
