I was the owners caregiver there for 3 years until her passing a year ago. She was in her 90's and had lived there since a toddler. I never saw the upstairs because it was locked up. Seeing you walk through the house is surreal to me. I lived a country life as a child and so being here was a great joy to me. I was a trusted employee too and that was appreciated. A lot of my amateur camera shots of sunsets are from this farm.

Holy Cow Eileen! That is amazing! Did you ever go to Elma's Variety Store? We would always stop on our way to Ocean Shores. Last year we just happened to stop by and they were having a 70% off everything because they were closing shop. I was sooooo sad. I loved that place!!!!

Its so wonderful that you knew the lady that lived there her whole life. I am guessing it was in her family for quite some time. Not sure if they were the original owners but would be nice to preserve some of the history of the house.

What a treasure trove of goodies! Someone’s whole life was left there. I love that your son sees the stuff left behind as “treasures”. I would agree. We had a pull down light just like that over our table when I was a kid. I love watching a young couple with children building a home together. It brings back great memories that I cherish with all my heart. Enjoy every moment together. 💕

Wonderful old farmhouse, so full of character and old memories. Now YOUR family can make your own new memories. Shabby chic thrifters and antique collectors would love to find all the "stuff" left behind ! -- Best of luck to you in making this place your own.

Wow, I just love it!! It looks so pretty on the outside and you'll have it looking so wonderful on the inside. You really chose a beautiful farm and the best way to raise kids. We know. We live in a 1919 home in the middle of Minnesota. These type of houses are worth so much more than what they build today and charge a mint!! I'm originally from Seattle/Renton, so I know just where Monticello is!! Such a beautiful state and area you live in! I subbed to you and will follow you!! Looking forward to it!! Oh, and we dairy farm. We make good use of our farm and you will too! Wishing you the best!! Oh and keep the pull down lamp! That's a treasure with all your other treasures. Keep the light fixture. I'm in my 50s and my childhood home had a similar one. We didn't often eat at the dining table, but we used it for homework and crafts. The pull-down light was great when you needed something brighter when gluing a model plane, painting details, and seeing a splinter in a kid's finger. Keep it until it falls to pieces! Save money where you can!

I am glad I stumbled upon your video house tour! Rather than a farmhouse, it's a Craftsman House. Craftsman architecture was common during the 1920s. There is a ton of information on this style that should give you inspiration when you rebuild the addition or replace some of the interiors. Enjoy your new adventure!
@eileensmith76914 жыл бұрын
It was a working Dairy Farm for many years. So Craftsman or not it that would make it a farmhouse.
@leighalexandra78994 жыл бұрын
@@eileensmith7691 Thank you for your kind reply and for telling me that it was a Dairy Farm. I was thinking about architectural styles when I wrote my comment. Because there are outbuildings, I love the term farmstead or simply farm. Whatever, I am certain the restoration will be beautiful and historically sympathetic. I am grateful that you gave me more information about the property.

Wishing you both decisive minds💕 i would suggest you set a limit to what you keep from all those wonderful treasures, maybe set a number of items you will keep. You dont want to end up with too many "things" to manage. I just saw a pull down lamp in a movie, I think it would be good to keep for charater and time period of the house.
