My stepfather was born in 1896 in Pinebloom, Ga. He made a his cake that was out of this world delicious and he cooked it on the stove top. He used a 8" nonstick little skillet. He mixed self rising flour, milk and bacon grease together. He put 1-2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet, Poured the batter in, cooked it slowly for about 20 minutes, flipped it over, cooked it another 10 minutes or so and it was delicious.!

Today I learned so much. Thank you, Tammy. First, I’m gonna start slicing my potatoes. Those look sooo YUM. Second, I am going to think more critically about timing. This was an awesome example for breakfast prep. Everything was so fluid, focused, and efficient. 🤯 this would easily take me 1 hr and then some. Third, I’m getting four new cooking tools: - A mixing fork - Bacon grease holder - Sifter - A fish spatula - Hand glove for protection during slicing Thank you for this delightful treat! Admittedly, I’m fancy from Cali but still have sincere reverence for my family’s Southern heritage. Have a fun vacationing in Vegas! HBD to Chris! And LOL to your tshirt 😂

Looks delicious. We usually like our eggs with the yolks aren't quite done so they are a bit runny unless we're eating them on a sandwich. We usually dice our fried potatoes. At Mom's (mine) we usually eat our eggs with toast. I like to dice my fried eggs really small just like my father did. I am mostly like my father. At Dad's (Lee's as mine died in February 1996) he does biscuits.

My Grand mother did her hoe biscuits making biscuits and flatten them a little in the skillet and put a little salt on top! She cooked it on top of stove in black iron skillet, WHEN ONE SIDE GETS BROWN SHE FLIPPED IT AND SPRINKLED A LITTLE SALT ON THAT SIDE THEN WHEN DONE SHE PUT THEM ON A PAPER TOWEL. Yum!

"Roux" is a good word for you, Tammy. Roux means reddish brown, like your hair. It came to be the name of the thickening made with flour and butter in France. It's also used as a name for girls. Remember Roux McClanahan in Golden Girls. All in all, you're right. The flour and shortening you used to make thickening is used for gravy. You are a great southern cook who can show anyone how to cook by keeping it right to the point. Thanks for you gravy video.
