Old Fashioned Southern Chicken Pie for Church Homecoming

Recipe for 1 chicken pie
3 to 4 cup shredded cooked chicken
1& 1/2 cup of chicken Broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 stick (1/2cup) of melted butter
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup self rising flour
Bake in a 350° preheated oven for 30 minutes
BE SURE TO CHECK THE OVEN SETTINGS!

I’m in northeastern KY and we also got hit by the storm. We had flooding, downed trees, power outages, high winds, some tornadoes. It wasn’t as bad as North Carolina by far but it was the worst storm we’ve had for some time. I never would have thought it would have been that bad here. It lasted for 2 days because the weather pattern stalled over us so the flooding was bad. A lot of people are still without power but thankfully no deaths in our area. I’ve never had a chicken pie only chicken pot pie, I didn’t know about the other one. It looked good.

Hi Leslie, I was coming back from The Beach on Saturday, driving north on 73/74 I saw the zoo signs and realized I was in your neck of the woods. Would have loved to stop in and say howdy! If I had time I would had visited the zoo, Next time I will need to go to the zoo. I’m glad everyone is safe and doing well. We rode the storm out on NMB, the condo swaying a time or two but didn’t bother us. We were in Gods hands! I’ll be making the chicken dish soon, looks so yummy, possibly for our church next lunch! I’m always trying to think of something to take and this is going on my list. Thank you and God Bless!

Happy Tuesday to you and PB.... Never heard of just a chicken pie besides a pot pie or one with veggies... I will be interested in seeing the video of you making it... I figured you would use broth and a soup for a gravy type product with a crust type topping.. kinda similar to pot pie with out veggies... Love that shirt of yours love the colors... I would love to hear them roar or the animals.. glad the church meal went well and y'all's Sunday supper went well... Yes the storm devasted so many areas NC got hit bad... Great help your church family is giving to those souls in desperate desperate need. I was on with Becky (Hillbilly Kitchen) and she said because if impassable roads it will take 4-6 weeks fir electric to be restored and longer for by hide in the mountains. Praying for every person involved helping in the relief effort they are selfless angels on earth and this will be on going. Did your Mana make southern chicken pie? I guess sometimes it’s nice and quiet and other times the animals are talking. God bless Browers Weslyn church.

I’ve made the chicken pie. It’s not my favorite, I prefer the homemade chicken pot pie but sometimes it’s what I have on hand that decides dinner that night. Praying for all that were hit hard by Helene.
