As you comment about your age and that you have done nothing to change your face, you mentioned that it gets worse, but to me at 74, beautiful despite and having been through cancer, double mastectomy, stroke and other health issues, Nothing about women like you and many of us gets worse; instead it gets better with each experience and discovery of how wonderful life is when we accept and adapt to all the changes it brings. Each day I look in the mirror and find myself lovely and cherish the beauty within and how much I respect myself; I feel for those that can not enjoy the beauty we all come to this life with. Again, watching and listening to you just re-energizes me to just be me. I wear makeup and have since my teens (I am 72). I have been criticized by so many people in my life time for using makeup. And, quite frankly have NEVER been excessive with my makeup. I felt guilty all the time. But, after a serious illness and years of hospitals and doctors, makeup makes me feel like I look healthy again. Pooh, pooh, on the gals who think you should only look natural. My skin is not naturally beautiful. And if makeup makes me feel my best...then they can keep their comments to themselves! Oh, and I don't do my eyes first either!

I really dislike makeup and fashion police. I wear what I like period and I’m 69, I’m too old to be told what to do, well, I never liked to be told what to do, lol. Here lately I’m wanting to d makeup to help hide my large pores, and blue veins, and a few small age spots. I met a 93 year old woman in assisted living (l’m in my 70’s) have a nice glow to her skin and it was original Oil of Olay. I started using it and like what I’m seeing. One thing I like is that it feels normal to my skin especially under foundation and doesn’t have hyaluronic acid in it which most cosmetics have now. I found hyaluronic acid causes my eyes to puff. I also am using organic in a glass bottle castor oil to slather my eyelashes and eyebrows and neck after using Nivea cream (from Germany) at night -I like it. I make my own Vit c serum which is so easy and inexpensive. I do dab a bit of retin A on a couple of enlarged freckles and outer edges of my eyes after Vit c and Nivea. I’m liking it. Right now foundation is Maybelline CC cream fresh or Super Goop matte mineral sunscreen - love the texture. For a natural blush (though looks very strong in case) I use Exibit A powder blush by NARS - very lightly. Then with a touch of castor oil at outer corner of eyes my face lights up!

Thank you for mentioning hyaluronic acid side effects. I too cannot tolerate hyaluronic acid--eyelid swelling and severe painful eyeballs. Unfortunately this product is now in so many foundations.

@lydiaspencer I just discover organic cold pressed castor oil and i love it, i am 54 and have a very sensitive skin. I used to use clinique but it started to irritate my skin. Glad to know you are using castor oil also. Have a blessed day!

Patti, I'm 76 and I've had five major surgeries in the last six years. First was a right knee replacement ( arthritis- rough recovery); a year later, gall bladder surgery (easy) ; a year later I had my thyroid removed ( awful recovery), and in 2023, I had a right hip replacement ( piece of cake), and six months later I had a right shoulder replacement.( not too bad). Luckily, I bounced back pretty quickly, except for the knee replacement and the thyroid surgery. I'm so glad that I had these surgeries. For many years I hurt all the time with arthritis. Now I can work in my yard again with no pain. I had gall stones, and lived for many years with hypothyrodism, very fatigued and weight gain. I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Now I feel better than I have in years, which is good, because I have to have a left shoulder replacement next year. Im going to leave my body to a metal and plastic factory. I heard a comedian say that he was hurting and thought he had arthritis. Turns out he had early-onset rigor mortis. Just a joke.😊 I love your makeup tips and have tried several of the products. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Patti. I had my left hip replaced and it was no big deal and has made a huge difference to my life. I'm 64 and waited 5 years to get mine done. My right hip needs done too. I cannot recommend it enough to you as it's down to the quality of life and being pain free. I have osteoarthritis throughout my body. Love your videos. You are a beautiful woman inside and out. Same. As a runner until my 60’s, I just wore out my joints. The hip replacement was one of the best things I’ve done. It’s not a hard procedure, generally, and the results are excellent

First let me tell you how very much I love your videos. I am 77 and can relate so well to you. Please do not hesitate if the doctor feels you need a hip replacement. I had my right hip done several years ago and I am so glad I did. It was an easy surgery. I only stayed overnight in the hospital. I was walking without walker or cane very soon. I did go to PT but only for a few weeks twice a week. I also just had my left knee done last year and am doing great. Both replacements were necessary because of arthritis.

Hi Patti, I’m so sorry your hip is causing you pain and affecting your lifestyle. I’ve had 2 knee replacements because of arthritis damage to cartilage and although my knees definitely aren’t like they were when I was younger, I’m at least out of pain and can now move about satisfactorily. People I know who’ve had hip replacements recover really fast and afterwards their hip functions and feels normal to them again. If you need to have surgery, find a highly recommended specialist and don’t be afraid to move forward. Just make sure the surgeon sees your recent bone density test results. Your bone condition could be an issue as to your candidacy for replacement. Wishing you all the best.

Yes Patti that’s happened to me and I had to have a hip replacement. The ball had deteriorated to the point that pain got so severe that it was hurting in the groin area and X-rays showed that. So had surgery and 3 days in the hospital. Best thing I could do for myself. No more pain and able to move without crying. 😊

I have to thank you for recommending the Curvlife nail glue. It has changed my nail game 100%. I got mine on Amazon and it is amazing. I can now wear my nails for 2 weeks, probably longer. Hey gorgeous!! I do so enjoy you, your makeup tips and tricks and your life stories. I just turned 72 this last week. This ole gal has been blasting around on a big Harley the better part of my life, about 48 years or so. I look 50 ish, have had 16 knee surgeries, both hips replaced, both shoulders , 3 knees, both hands have been rebuilt any no one has ever asked me to act my age. My activity keeps me young as yours does you. Listen of all the surgeries, the hips are the easiest to recover from, just don’t wait too long before you have it done. Need to get that walk schedule back in place so you can keep the youth you have. Looking forward to hearing from you regularly. I live in east tn.

I am starting with the small wrinkles and at first worried about them, I know they are part of aging, through your videos I know not to be afraid of them and that I need to start a skin care routine, something else I haven't done. I have watched you apply your makeup many many times and always wondered why you applied foundation, eyeshadow, bronzer, blush and then concealer. I decided that I would do my eyes, foundation, bronzer, blush and then apply concealer! What a difference that has made in the way my blush looks! I always had a problem with getting my blush to blend with the concealer and now problem solved! An old dog can learn new tricks!😊

Patti, I started watching you years ago ~ I thought what an inspiration you are for us more mature girlies! As we age, we realize on the inside we don't feel like we are aging if we think young. I am 78 and though I know I have arthritis in my knees and I can't do all the things I have always done ~ I've always been active. For me, I just feel better when I get up in the morning, shower, put on my makeup and do my hair just as I have always done. My mom and Grandmother were the same way and I always admired them for that. You have a wonderful way of reminding us that just because we are older, we don't have to give up on ourselves and let ourselves go. Age should not keep us from being the best version of ourselves. I'm 59 and my left knee and right hip is awful. Seriously, when you feel it take Tylenol arthritis caplets. Keep walking that will keep your joints lubed up more. Godly blessings

Ask a PT or your doctor about a TENS machine. I love mine. Pain relief is quick with Tylenol and TENS.

Maybe it's our age, but I apply my makeup in the same order as you.😊 It works for me. I love elf products too, especially their new foundation. I love your gray hair, it's very becoming and enhances your blue eyes. Sometimes we just realize our age and love it. After all, we have earned every wrinkle and age related difference, so we just embrace it and move forward. Sounds like you are experiencing sciatic nerve pain. I've dealt with it for years. There is a low back sciatica belt I just heard about and I'm definitely going to order it. A friend told me her doctor told her about it and it really works for her. Patty, I'm 8 days post-op from my hip replacement. You're right, osteoarthritis is likely the source of your hip pain. That's exactly what it was for me.. I had pain that came and went, and then earlier this year I started having groin pain that became an issue so that I went to my doctor, got an order for Physical Therapy and an X-ray. I thought I had pulled a groin muscle but the physical therapist diagnosed it as a bad hip. I was in denial until the X-ray results came in - severe deterioration of the hip joint due to arthritis, bone on bone. I was shocked! I had no idea! I decided to get the hip replaced because I knew my activity would become increasingly limited and soon enough I'd get fat and lazy, not to mention have chronic pain. I'm glad I did it because, like you, I've been a walker and a hiker, plus I have a 4 year old grandchild to keep up with. I waited 6 weeks for an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon, and 2 more months for my spot on the surgery schedule. In those 3.5 months my hip got worse. It was a challenge to ride a stationary bike, let alone go for a decent walk. At the end, hobbling around Costco was a workout. So of course, I was avoiding activity that caused pain. It seems like once the hip announced itself, it went downhill fast. It's different for everyone, of course. You haven't yet had imaging so you don't know what you're dealing with, but one thing I can tell you - the cartilage that lines the joint does not grow back. I'm 73, so a little younger than you, and I'm glad I did it. It has been a very smooth process and I'm recovering well. Went in to the surgery center at 6:30 am, was on my way home by 1:30 pm. The surgery was minimally invasive and done with the use of robotics. By post-op day 4 I was out of the walker, walking on my own. I've had soreness but no serious discomfort. There are several videos on YT of people describing their experiences, very similar to mine, including the mature beauty influencer, fiftyplusbeauty. There are a lot of videos by orthopedic surgeons too. So, please understand, not trying to tell you what to do, just providing some info in case it may help. Cheers!

So agree about foundation before eye makeup in order to see what looks best. In the UK we can’t return any cosmetics etc even to high end stores so mistakes are very expensive !! xx

Regarding Elf return policy, here in Australia that is just mostly the norm as we can’t return any skincare/makeup products that have been used like you can in the USA. They have to be unopened, some places if lightly used you can get a credit to use. It is for hygiene purposes. Love your videos.
