Thank you so much for checking out my request!! Alan wake is a video game series that follows an author who goes with his wife to a lake because he has writers block. He gets mad at her because she brings a typewriter to see if he can be inspired to write while there. In a rage he leaves the cabin and she gets taken by a dark entity. The champion of light is him trying to save his wife. The song essentially recaps where he is as he lost his memory when entering the darkness to save her. As he tries to find his wife he is finding pieces of a manuscript that he wrote to himself to help him defeat the darkness. Either way the song itself is amazing!! Whether you know the story or not it is quite the experience. The visuals themselves are an adventure in the video. This was a very fun reaction to watch! Hope we hear more from the God's Of Asgard

"Old Gods of Asgard" is the fictional name for a band found within Remedy games, notably "Control" & the Alan Wake series. This song is from Alan Wake 2 which has an amazing soundtrack of dark narrative storytelling from other Finnish artists. The Old Gods are portrayed by the real Finnish band "Poets of the Fall" and they are well worth checking out on their own. I would recommend "Carnival of Rust" as Poets of the Fall & "Take Control" from the game Control which was done as Old Gods of Asgard.

I am so glad you did absolutely no research going into this, it added a certain level of fun for me. Especially since you were totally able to realize just how much context you were missing. But, I'm glad you liked it! This truly was an amazing experience, you should check out some walkthroughs to see how it looks in game. As for more Old Gods of Asgard, they only have a few other songs, being a fictional band from a video game. The order I would suggest is Dark Ocean Summoning, Control, Children of the Elder God, Anger's Remorse, and so on. But! The band behind Old Gods is called Poets of the Fall, they are from Finland! They have quite the catalogue to check out if you want to see some of their original work!

The integration of the soundtracks into the Alan Wake games is amazing as they are like ballads told from a bard of what forces are at play in the games. They don't spoil, but they do have you tuning in at the edge of your seat to see how the songs tie into the games.

Short answer… Alan Wake is a video game. The main character is a writer. An evil presence can use the works of artists (writers, musicians, etc) to change reality. It can also take over the minds of people and turn them into shadow monsters. (The workers are loggers who fell victim to the evil presence) Old Gods of Asgard is a fictional 70s metal band in the game, a real world band Poets of the Fall write and perform the music, and portray the younger versions of the band. The music of the band plays a big role in the story.

Like the stories are in different universes but they all connect, and the beauty of it, is that all the games made are from the same company. The Old Gods of Asgard are a fictional band portrayed by a real Finnish band called Poets of the Fall. They also performed this live at the 2023 Game Awards. The main character is the man with long hair, named Alan Wake. This music video was created for the sequel to the first game, which took 13 years to come out after a massive cliffhanger in the first game. This song basically retells a lot of the events of the first game. A basic synopsis of the first game: Alan Wake is a world-famous writer of crime thrillers. But after struggling with writer's block, his wife takes them on a romantic holiday to a small town called Bright Falls, Washington in order to get Alan's creative juices flowing. However, after Alan's wife disappears, Alan goes on a mind-bending quest to find her. The game starts off as a missing persons thriller, but quickly turns into cosmic horror. It's also a mind-bender and it makes the player question what's real and what's imagination.
@jackcollinsmartin421010 ай бұрын
Some other fun details: - The man with short blond hair is Sam Lake. He's the director of both games and is also Finnish. Just like in the music video, he danced live at the Game Awards and it was huge for the media image of Finland (especially getting them on the map when it comes to AAA gaming) - Bright Falls, Washington (a fictional town) is very likely based on the real town of North Bend, Washington. This is where the very popular show Twin Peaks was filmed. Twin Peaks and Alan Wake share a lot of similarities when it comes to overall genre and vibes (someone from the city goes to a small pacific northwest town to investigate a mystery, cosmic horror ensures. The townspeople are all strange and mysterious, etc.) - Alan Wake was produced by Remedy Games. Many of Remedy's games take place in a shared universe and all reference each other. Recently, the games have been leading into each other. These games include Max Payne 1-3, Alan Wake 1-2, and Control.

Alan Wake is a vidéo game character. It's a writer who goes in hollidays in a small town where there is lake with a dark présence. This presence is feeds by artistiques créations. At the end of the first game Alan is trapped in the lake. To get out he need to write his escape. At some point in AW2 he writes a musical comedy interview of his life and the song is in majority a summary of his life and the first game. It's an incredible 15 or 20 minutes sequence in the game where you progress accross a séries of tableaux.

A little late to this (by about 7 months) as a writer I would consider the Alan Wake series to quite possibly have the most fascinating and well written stories from a writers perspective. There is a lot of layers to the story of both Alan Wake 1 and 2 and even if you gather all the collectables (manuscript pages mostly) that expand on the story, there will still be things you won't notice until either a repeat playthrough or via a youtuber or streamer online. Keep in mind, the Alan Wake series is a video game series, not a novel series, or a movie/tv show. A video game series. A lot of people, including my peers from my time at Grad School, discredit video games as a story telling medium, Remedy Entertainment excells in writing complex and compelling stories in almost every game they make. Truly an incredible game studio.

Alan Wake 2 is a game and in this part of the game Alan Wake is stuck in a dark dimension where weird shit happens. During the song the game was playable with the live action scenes were on giant screens as you moved forward. Thats why there are so many different shots for the same moments of the song. One side of you you can see the band playing on a big screen and the other side the people dancing on another screen. Also I love the comment you made: “75% of the book was already read” 😂 since the game is about a book writer named Alan wake where his work comes to life (like a Steven King being stuck in the town of derry fighting a clown named pennywise lol). Very happy you liked the song and the performance. ❤

just to clarify the songs contents the lyrics and question and answers basically summarizes Alan Wake's life up to the events of the game Alan Wake, Part. 1 explains his history of nightmares. Part 2 explains his raise and slump as an author and Part 3 is basically about the events in the said game with Part 4 being a solo to himself in the stage where this is being played back to him on to give himself a clue to how to end the number.

The real life band behind "Old Gods" is "Poets of the Fall" from Finland. Since their existence they have always been working together with Remedy Entertainment, also based in Finland. In "Max Payne 2" in 2003 they had their first big release "Late Goodbye" and since then have always been present in Remedy's games. They were present in 2010's "Alan Wake" with "War," "The Poet and the Muse" as well as "Balance slayed the demon". In 2019's "Control" with "Take Control" and other songs, I think. And now their biggest cooperation in "Alan Wake 2" from 2023. They always find a way to surprise the audience. You should look for a "Let's Play Alan Wake 2" video, chapter 4 "We Sing". It is mindblowing, to say the least :D

Just now seeing this in my feed. The song is from a video game, a literally chapter of said game. There is Alan Wake, Alan Wake American Nightmare which is a spin off but canonically takes place between 2 plot points in Alan Wake 2 but was released 11yrs before Alan Wake 2. So basically 3 games. The game is a psychological horror game that follows the writer Alan Wake. Developed by Remedy, whom likes to write interesting, dynamic, goofy stories. This music video is the goofy. I strongly recommend playing Remedy games, they don't make bad games. Rather you're playing Max Payne, Control(which is connected to the Alan Wake universe), Quantum Break, and Alan Wake.
@NuclearAbyss10 ай бұрын
Old gods of Asgard are a real band called Poets of the fall. But you have enter the Remedy universe, whitch is comprised of Alan Wake, Control, Alan Wake 2, (maybe) Quantum Break and Max Payne. (Control 2 is in the works and Max Payne 1&2 are getting Remakes) All the games are connected in some shape or form. Poets of the fall makes songs specially for Remedy games, thats why they actually tied to the story and aren't just licensed songs.

I’m this video: a tortured writer grapples with extra dimensional horrors within a dark purgatory where he can’t be sure where his mind begins and reality ends, while being serenaded by a lovecraftian temporally shifting killer moonlighting as a late night talk show host, with backing by 3 geriatric Finnish demigod metal heads possessed by their younger selves. Just another Tuesday for Alan Wake.

This was such a joy to watch a reaction from someone unfamiliar with the games. The player actually plays through this music video, triggering the next portion by reaching certain goals. Remedy (the games studio) is known for its innovative techniques, with their games having really deep, intriguing, interconnected stories and being glorious, interactive pieces of art. There’s strong Twin Peaks and Stephen King influences to the story, so the games are survival horror. If that’s not a genre you enjoy - it is quite stressful - then I’d recommend watching a video explaining the story, since it’s so well constructed it shouldn’t be missed out on due to not being a horror gamer. BTW, the gentleman with short blonde hair you see as one of the three main characters is Sam Lake, Remedy’s Creative Director, and probably the single most beloved person in gaming. (Possibly outside of gaming, too.) I believe he was close friends with Marko Saaresto, lead singer of Poets of the Fall, which is why they’re featured in many of his games as the fictional Old Gods of Asgard.
