WHAT! I just looked them up, I saw Old God’s of Asgard on Spotify but didn’t realize it was another band! I’m guessing Poets of the Fall came first? That’s awesome.

@@ItsRayGun Yep. Old Gods is their alter-ego 😊 Poets started around 2005 and Old Gods' drummer is actually Poets' keyboards. Olli plays lead guitar in Poets as in Old Gods. Poets also sing the ending song for Remedy game MAX PAYNE II and collaborated in CONTROL as you may know

@@ItsRayGun Poets of the Fall was kinda formed due to Remedy in the first place. They even released a track in Max Payne 2 (Late Goodbye) before releasing their first album.

@@ItsRayGun Even better. If you pay close attention you'll notice that the younger Odin in this part has the eyepatch on the opposite eye to the Odin Saga meets. There's an in game piece of lore that explains the reason for the discrepancy too.

Concerning the Eyepatch: As a Character identifying as one of the children favoured by Odin? Sure. The rl singer seems to like to dress up. Happy you like the game and this performance :) The lyrics said if Alan had seen his lady drown, he might have been able to save her(from the darkness of the lake). It is in reference to Alan Wake, the plot of the first game - mind you.

*looks up singer irl* I appreciate that! Definitely one of my favorite gaming moments this year. And you are totally right, I got super into it and forgot in that moment it was referencing the previous game. My memory of it is just so fuzzy 🤔

@@Dragonspoetofdeath13 years between the first and second. Most of the games in the Remedy Universe (Alan Wake, American Nightmare, Control, and Alan Wake II) are set roughly in the same year that they came out in. Though American Nightmare might be a but more dubious in terms of time setting.

It's the best sequence I've ever seen in a videogame. If you liked it and want more play Control if you haven't already, it has a bit like this (and arguably better gameplay than AW2)

Honestly, struggling to think of something better. So I played control way back when I had ZERO clue of any deeper lore (and I didn’t play the dlc, especially interested the AWE one). I think I want to give it and Quantum Break a shot :)

@@ItsRayGun Control's lore is all in the notes and item descriptions. It's basically SPC the game, and it ties in to Alan Wake's world. It's one of the few games where I've actively sought out every single collectable to get an idea of the world being depicted. The Dead Letters level is my favourite for this - everyone that sends a letter about something weird that doesn't conform to the real world results in their letter ending up in the Oldest House, and you get to read them. They even reference the Havana Syndrome as an altered world event.
