So I actually happened to live in El Paso Texas in the community that Sherman hemsley actually lived in we would often see each other in the Albertsons on George Dieter where we both frequently shopped and my niece is actually went to school with his God children whom he would take to school everyday and pick up every day so to answer your question no there was no hostage situation LOL and he didn't seem to be a recluse or seem like someone that was being taken advantage of or in desperate need a friend he was always happy-go-lucky he was reserved but he would hold conversations with people that weren't fanning out but if you just talk to him like a person he would talk to you.

FYI: Alot of Jeffersons' fan may not know this but, Isabel Sanford was 20 years older than Sherman Hemsley. YES, ISABEL WAS OLD ENOUGH TO BE SHERMAN'S MOTHER in real life. Isabel was born in 1917 and Sherman was born in 1938. However, we could never tell because she looked so youthful. Their television chemistry was so strong, you couldn't tell she had that many years on him. In my opinion, Isabel Sanford is PERFECT example of "Black don't crack". 🙌

@Tomovox_PAMS_Radio_JIngles Жыл бұрын
When I learned about that age difference it just made me sit right down and think about that lol. Because Isabel just didn't look like she was any older than Sherman. Oddly, if you see her in the movie "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" and then a year or so later, an appearance on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," she actually looked older on those shows than she did on "The Jeffersons." So that woman was aging in REVERSE! And when I look at the later seasons episodes I'm even more impressed because there was some fairly physical comedy that she performed- in this way, Isabel was a lot like Lucile Ball because she did some VERY physical comedy that even people half her age wouldn't try. Only thing difference is that like you said: "Isabel Sanford is PERFECT example of "Black don't crack".

Katt Williams might be good for one of those "The Jeffersons Live Before A Studio Audience" shows that Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear co-host but I would not want to see him in a Bio-Pic. Katt could totally mimic the character of "George Jefferson" but I don't think he could play Sherman Hemsley. As Ashley has so excellently laid out, Hemsley had a lot of sides to him. Katt is a great comedian, but I have not seen him take on a complicated lead character in a movie. Out of respect to Sherman Hemsley, who was a Broadway star and a TV Icon, I'd rather see a more experienced actor take on the role of telling his life story.

Where was this mans family?? Did he disconnect from them when he became rich and famous? Someone should’ve been checking on him.

Hemsley seemed to be suffering from loneliness “daddy” issues. So he kept his own “ fake family “ on the payroll! He could’ve gotten those folks outta his home… SECURITY 👮🏽♀️!!! But loneliness can be crippling for emotionally distraught folks like him! Ijs🤷🏽♀️

It doesn’t matter how smart or talented a person may be. People have personality flaws that get their personal lives entangled with people who are not good for them.

He was my favorite 🤎 along with James Evans ( John Amos) My sisters loved when I imitated how he danced with Helen Willis 😂😂😂 he was short like I was and his character George Jefferson made feel great about being short

My son lived across street from to Sherman Hemsley in Texas years ago .He told me Sherman was a nice quiet neigbour .My son said he never saw him have no wild parties he use to come out his house to walk his dog and smoke his weed .Always was polite with the neighbors my son said Hemsley basically lived a quiet life at home.

Aw man I hate that for him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was being held against his will. I saw a doc that said he was always sweet and inviting to his neighbors tho, so at least he had some kind people in the end.

It’s definitely sad the things people do for money exactly other people’s money.. I hope he’s finally resting in PEACE! Seems like he didn’t have that nor love.. It’s hard being a genuine person in a cold world. R.I.P 🙏🏽❤️

Loved some Sherman Hensley. Had no idea he wasn’t big on George Jefferson’s character. Wow total polar opposites but he did so good. I always and could be tough thought he was rough but it dad make the character interesting

Ashley SaysSo! This is jazziccoolcat. I noticed you mentioned that T.V. producer, Norman Lear wanted to find a husband for Isabel Sanford's character. However, what was not mentioned was that Eric Monte (T.V. writer and creator of sitcom "Good Times" and the movie "Cooley High") helped to create the characters George and Louise Jefferson.
@brendaholman3835 Жыл бұрын
Don’t forget, the character, Lionel Jefferson, who played the son, was also, a Co-creator, of the show and good times. Michael Evans, was his name. Norman Lear, stole, so much from these two black men. Mike, also, starred in All in the Family. Their involvement in creating these wonderful comedy’s, was, overshadowed, by Norman Lear. He got all the money and all the credit. So unfair.
