Restoration and customization of an old little hatchet which I found at the basement. I slightly changed shape and added some slot near handle to give it cool look. There I try to show all steps of restoration this little hatchet.

If I had this hachet, I would simply attach a handle to it and take it in use. But this guy is next level. Hats off to you brother 👊

Beautiful work. For people who questioned why the handle was short, this type could be used for hunting, backpacking on the mountain which is more practical being shorter so it could fit into a backpack. I have used similar once on a long trip to mountains. Its very essential tool to have beside the knife and a hand saw.

Nice project, I found a bucket of hammer heads and hatchet, ax heads. A buddy told me the hammers were black smith's hammers. I took my time and brought them all back to better then new with oak handles and sold the "set" for two grand. His offer not my number. Not bad for a bucket of rust. I'm still working with the others.

The hang job was terrible, I'm afraid. That little shoulder creates a weak point, plus it looks pretty rough. With as much time and detail went into that head, it was ruined with that handle job.
@hernancoronel
@hernancoronel 4 жыл бұрын
I think gluing the wedges with no oil could have been a better option. The handle was much more for a hammer than for an axe, however I liked it anyway because for such a small axe it kind of fits. Great video thank you!

I am a fan of the handle. It always bothers me when folks put on a handle that is so ill proportioned as to make the tool useless or even just ugly. You did a great job. I know that doesn’t mean much coming from a random person commenting on your video, but I appreciate a good handle. Haha

well, i know i'm not who you're asking, but i know for a fact that jonathan katz moses uses a grizzly bandsaw, not that exact same model though. And he seems to have good knowledge and judgement when it comes to tools. so, my advice, if you can afford it then it probably is a good investment. I appreciate your style quite a lot. The decision not to include information about what you are doing as most other channels I’ve seen do (e.g., “T6160 stainless” or “heat to 1850 for 2 hours) is oddly nice. It doesn’t distract the viewer, but more importantly for me, I don’t feel like I can’t look away for fear I’ll miss something. I hope I’m not sounding disrespectful. Nice work.
