so enjoyable and interesting - we like seeing places we remember from years gone by as well as hearing a bit of history. not sure if I'd want a house at the "prow" of that island - seems like it might cop it a bit when the weather's bad and the Thames is in full spate - could account for the price

Nice vlog as usual went on the Thames on a hire boat about 6six years ago its a lot of fun,Agree with you about John Gregson brilliant in the old Ealing films also as a detective in a box set of dvds which i can't remember the name sadly died at Portlock Weir i Somerset a lovely place we visited some time ago stay safe.😊

Hi Nicky and Gary did you manage to see Runnymede and the monuments to Magna Carta, I think that that is the best stretch of the Thames , The Paddle boat you saw was built for the film TARZAN it was shipped out to the Cameroons for filming then brought back and the Diesel engine fitted the paddle wheel doesn't drive the boat it just goes round and round ,I worked on her for Ten years up and down ,down and up, Cheers

Unfortunately we've found mooring up is very difficult as it's so busy. So many places we want to stop at but we can't, perhaps we'll have to do it again

Were you a volunteer for french brothers ? I’ve been on it a few times and was told they were volunteers. Seemed a bit of a cheek when it’s must be a well paying business

@@Conflictofinterest902 Hi I was paid the going rate PLUS we had a packed lunch as we ate on the hoof , the lunches were something to write home about , Yummy.Don't no anything or heard about volunteering.

Nice one Gary when you go under the bridge in Windsor town mi uncle had a mooring on the right as you look towards Eton You went down the steps an it was there it came with his job he looked after the swimming pools in the collage but what a mooring to have hey I went out on his boat a few times it was a little cruiser cheers Gary you all have a top week 🙂🐶🐶🐶🌟🐶🐶🐶✌️

Hello Gary, I’m a long term subscriber, having watched all your videos from the very start. And, I’m a Thames boater. In this episode you were on my home patch. It’s always interesting to hear narrowboat utubers comments on the Thames, as it’s so different to what they/you are used to. I always wish I could be with them to show them the better parts, where to moor etc. Your stop in old Windsor for example is one we avoid because of the road noise, and had you not taken the Desborough cut you would have found a beautiful mooring known as Lady Linseys Lawn with access to the small town of Shepperton. There’s a very nice mooring next to a park with a childrens wet and dry play area in Staines, and everything you could want in town, from an M&S to a Pizza Hut, cinema and everything else. I’m currently on my boat in Pangborne heading for Oxford, probably a week or more behind you. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time on the Thames. Mark

Hi Mark and thanks for the info buddy. We've found moorings a complete nightmare as you'll see in a future vlog but we are now moored in Abingdon and absolutely loving it here. We are heading to Lechlade then up the Oxford so please say hi if you see us

Hi Gary, Hi Nicky. Another vlog enjoyed as usual. Do you mind if I just ask if you realised that the gravestone that you showed was not for the actor John Gregson but another one who died, acording to the stone, in 1922 when 'our' John Gregson was only three ! He died in 1975. We also enjoy his films very much.

Are the Shepperton Locks near the Shepperton Film Studios ? and did John Gregson make movies at Shepperton Film Studios? I thought I knew the name John Gregson from an Australian TV Show probably a different person

He played an Australian in Above Us The Waves and of course he was in Scott of The Antarctic. He also was in the Holly and The Ivy. I still have my copy of Hans Brinker a book given to me as a child .

Gary Desborough Cut is boring. You should have taken the river route which goes past Shepperton itself. Much prettier. Just below Shepperton Lock is the only place I have ever fallen in and I was 3 in a canoe with my parents. I have been to Pharaoh's Island many times and never by boat. We used to swim across much to the annoyance of the residents. Jeff
