Clothes need to fit properly even if you need to have them tailored - true but, you need to pay for quality clothes and then also a tailor. $$$$

Someone mentioned adding equestrian boots. Yes, and I would add a classic trench and camel coat also. Then, you can discuss pearls, gold and diamond jewelry as well as gloves and belts. Thank you. Well done.

One caveat, Gatsby was New Money, that's the whole point of the novel. He was new money and Daisy was old money, and he died trying to achieve the American dream of wealth and acceptance. ...on the other hand, he basically was TRYING to look like old money, so he would probably be watching this video.
@theladynextdoor3132 жыл бұрын
I simply call this a classic, timeless, & elegant style. Not sure what’s with this new trend of calling it “old money” or trying to “look rich”. I have worn this style for years because it suits me and I feel most comfortable in it. Also, buy the quality you can afford. Designer labels are overrated and nowadays much of it is sadly China produced anyways.

I’m redoing my entire closet to have only up to 100 items including accessories because I’m tired of having a closet full of things that I don’t think are very versatile and timeless. I’m taking some inspiration from OldMoney but ultimately I want timeless elegance as the entire theme of my closet.

Yes. Real "Old Money" style is things that are not new, but borrowed stuff from their parents, older siblings...and its always supposed to be understated. Its not like dark academia.

My mother came from a relatively well off family and to me the “old money aesthetic” is all about inconspicuous consumption. From what I observed it’s all about quality, functionality and pieces that you are comfortable in.

OLD MONEY ITS NOT ONLY HOW YOU DRESS BUT HOW YOU LIVE! YOUR EYE FOR ELEGANCE IS EXPRESS IN YOUR HOME DECOR AND DESIGN STYLE AS WELL.✨. LOOKING AT THE BACKGROUND OF YOUR HOME ...HMMM🤔🤔🤔 YOU CAN PROBABLY GIVE YOUR PLACE AND OLD MONE TOUCH BY JUST FLUFFING THE PILLOWS, HAVING ONLY A COUPLE INCHES OF SPACE BETWEEN THE ART WORK AND MAYBE ADD SOME GREENERY OR A VASE WITH FRESH FLOWERS 🌺 JUST A THOUGHT 💭 IT WILL HELP YOUR CHANEL GOOD LUCK 👍🏼🍀

That’s exactly what I like to wear as my uniform, but I definitely don’t come from old money. I just grew up wearing preppy clothing in the 90s, so having a timeless wardrobe in natural materials is my base. I tend to buy second hand and vintage bc I can get good quality at reasonable prices. Since COVID, I’ve incorporated a lot more linen for a more casual, relaxed feel. It’s comfortable and less structured for day to day life.

This "Old Money" aesthetic that seems to be going around, seems to be prep/collegiate, rebranded
@edennis85782 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. It's preppy, yes, because true preppies are the old money set. As for collegiate, maybe you're thinking of the academia aesthetic, which tends to be 1930s-1950s, when few young people but the children of the rich could afford to go to college at all, much less the Ivy League schools. The old money aesthetic is more grown up.

Hi Angie. You did a great job with this video, especially since you included more understated brands like Lacoste. I love your Lacoste polo and how you styled it with white jeans and your Hermes Kelly belt. Besides the actual garments, I believe that the quality of the items also attributes to the “old money” aesthetic. Do you agree and if so, would you consider upgrading your Zara blazer and trousers for higher quality items made of natural fibers like silk and wool?

Great list of capsule items for classic style! Would love to see a video on your approach/thoughts on classic/old money jewelry. Heirloom pieces are a great way to polish a classic capsule, but I have very few (coming from a very large family) and know that many do not have such luxuries in life. I've found estate sales and high-end consignment can result in wonderful pieces at a fraction of buying something new. Thoughts?

Actually I just learned recently that my style and my family's is called old money. Well it is true. My family owns houses, vineyards and other businesses for quite some generations. But there's a lot of things missing: actually we do wear jeans, but not any type of jeans. Good quality jeans, not that tight, high waist and usually with some space between the feet and the jeans. You can fold it or just buy some jeans like that. The boots equestrian style are a must! A good pair of belts. Very important! Jewelry for women: fine, dainty gold/silver pieces. Other thing, I don't know what's called but the Ralph Lauren/ Sacoor winter simple jackets, like bomber style. Gosh everyone I know has that type jacket.

Your pants are way too tight, got some CT action. Those horizontal creases mean you have to size up, it will make you look thinner, too, not being squeezed in like that. Why not iron your items before showing them on a video? That shirt still has the packing creases, as well as from when you wore it. Old money irons their clothes, or, more likely, pays someone to do it.

What a ridiculous video. Old money has money because they buy quality "one" time Old money is cheap. This look also doesn't look good on everyone. It can look prissy sometime. Every woman should be herself. I think it is important to look polished, clean, and put together in a casual way. Not too contrived is the answer and so iron all clothes and if possible have them fitted to your body.
