In this video, I'm restoring a spark/starter gun. I got this on eBay and the seller didn't know much about it. It is used to generate a spark in order to ignite the gas when welding or in a gas stove. It's built like a lighter but without the fluid. It has a flint and a flint wheel that is turned when pulling the trigger. It was quite straightforward restoring the gun. The most difficult part was making new pins/rivets that hold the two gun-halves together.
This is because I did it on my drill press as I don't have a lathe. In the end, I was really happy with the result. I painted the two gun-halves in light blue Hammerite, some parts were blued using
cold bluing liquid and most of the small parts were nickel plated. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any info of the maker GaPi, the old label was so damaged that I couldn't use it as a reference to make a new one.
I hope that you enjoy watching it.
