Old rusty lighter Restoration

In today's video, we'll show you how to clean an old old gasoline lighter.
I bought this rusty lighter at auction. The lighter was in poor condition, very rusty and dysfunctional.
Upon inspection, I found that the lighter was brass inlaid with red and white stones.
I found that the lighter has a decorative engraving on one side and a Czech lion with the inscription 1918-1938 Czechoslovakia on the front.
Something history:
Gasoline Lighter
Gas lighters are mostly metal and there is a container in the bottom part of the lighter. The inside of the body is filled with cotton wool or other suction material that absorbs flammable material (most often gasoline) and retains it from evaporation. A wick is inserted into the lighter body, which is moistened with combustible material. When crossed out, flammable mixtures are ignited, causing a flame.
Some types of lighters have an area around the wick protected by a special part that is punched and allows the flame to burn even when the wind blows or falls to the ground. This technology is patented.
The best-known gasoline lighters are Zippo products that guarantee quality for their users. The company provides lifetime warranty on all its lighters. Another worldwide brand is the Austrian IMCO with almost a hundred-year tradition of producing its own patented gasoline lighters, also known as "rakušák" in the Czech Republic.

That's Remo. I think, it's a czech company, i got a „Zippo-style” flip-top lighter from them, and it's awesome, has the same durability, appearance like a Zippo one, but it was a lot cheaper. According to my lighter, their fluid can be also good.

Excellent work restoring the old lighter. Try Flitz for polishing brass, copper and bronze. Deep cleans the metal and makes it shine like gold.

Beautiful job!!! The inscription says, "Czechoslovakia" in Czech. 1918 was the year of independence and 1938 was the beginning of the Nazi occupation. The country was "Liberated" by the Soviet Red Army in 1945. It was restored to full sovereignty in 1990 and then split into two countries in 1992.

yes, it means 20 years of Czechoslovakia. Lion is a state symbol and stones are connected with crown decoration by Czech garnets (stones)
