Please support me on Patreon, let's get from Camel to Leviathan! / mtg_phil In this 93/94 Old School Magic video I talk about the deck I made for Timmy the Sorcerer's Colour Clash tournament.
The requirements were as follows: 60 cards, no sideboard, 8 artifacts max (all restricted), non-basics restricted, no off-color moxen.
I decided to build a mono-black aggro-midrange deck, making use of fast mana and powerful threats such as Hypnotic Specter, Juzam, Sengir Vampire, but also adding some spicier cards such as Erg Raiders and Nightmare. I also used Bad Moons for the boost and Underworld Dreams along with Drain Life for the longer games.
All in all, I really enjoyed the tournament since it brings us back to the more simple, yet also fun idea of focussing on one color and playing without sideboard, giving the game more of a Rock, Paper, Scissors aspect. Speaking of which, I had surprisingly bad matchups against Blue rather than White and Red, which would have been more intuitive for me.
