Old Scout, An Introduction

Hi, I’m Christian. When I was a little kid I was a cub scout. But then, I quit. I’m not really sure why, and I’ve kinda regretted it for 20 years, because I do love adventure and gear and making stuff and uniforms and patches and badges and setting arbitrary goals for myself. Now I’m 30 and I want some adventure and I’m not allowed to be an official boy scout. So I’m gonna do it it on my own. I’m gonna do the entire curriculum of scouts from Cub to Eagle in one year. This is Old Scout.

As someone who complained the arrow of light and who is also an Eagle Scout I have to say I will give you some props. For going through the whole scouting program. It’s about turning young boys into leaders and men and giving them useful skills as well. Good luck

I love this! I quit Boy Scouts in high school when it was "uncool". Not only have I also always regretted not sticking it out and getting my Eagle, I've also given serious consideration to doing all of the things I had left just to say I completed it. So cool that you're actually doing it!

Here it is a year later and I am just now seeing your channel. I love it. I have given thought to doing what you are, not in one year though, because I too was a Cub and then in Boy Scouts but never got very far. I kinda wanted to go back and earn more merit badges, although, I haven't given much thought to passing Eagle. I will start watching from the beginning and if the rest of your videos are like this one I know I"m going to enjoy it a great deal.

I was originally in Cub Scouts but didn't go far as the leaders were horrible at their job. So my dad made me quit because it just wasn't what it was supposed to be.

Anyone know which brand of hat that campaign hat is from from the thumbnail?

It is the “Boy Scouts of America Official Hat” which is what the label says inside it. This campaign style was the main style until the garrison cap which came about in the 40s/WWII. But the campaign hat didn’t disappear, some still chose to wear them. I’m not sure when this particular hat is from, but up until the 40s is when this was the official hat. You can find them on eBay.
