Do not forget how heavy these cars are compared to the rally cars of today. I think it takes a lot more skill (probably) to throw a car around that had a lot more body roll than the modern cars of this world today.

These rally cars were lighter than today's WRC/WRC2 cars. SAAB 96 approx. 800-980 kg (2-stroke - V4) VOLVO approx. 900-1250 kg (PV-AMAZON-142-164) Today's WRC 1250 kg WRC2 1230kg

The Volvo at 5:20 and 9:20, what year and model is it? I see it several times throughout and always it makes a whining or singing noise on acceleration. What is the cause?

That's a PV 544 -61.

Its a Volvo PV 544 gess its the late model 1965 and the noise could be from the rear axel diffrental brake maybee

Sounds like straight cut gears.

Sounds like the transmission gears to me. When my fathers 49 pontiac had the original drivetrain the straight cut gears in the transmission made it louder then the engine.

VOLVO 164 with straight 6-cyl engine of 3.0. It is based on 144 2.0 4-cyl but with different front, engine etc.
