One of my favorite places, Bridgeport area. I am 71 yr old lady, and I have been fishing Robinson creek and the lakes since I was 6yrs old. I will be up there after Labor Day. I will be staying at the Lower Twin Lakes resort. I like fishing a worm with a water bubble too.

If that's not God's country, it has to be very close.

This older guy knows what’s up - as a Basque guy JT Bar has some good food - there’s also a new spot in town that teeters more along the Basque fusion line

I thought I was an impatient weirdo for not using Bait-n-wait set ups, but this guy stated it just about the way I feel. I keep swearing I will make use of my 2 rod permit by setting up one B'n'W and throwing a spoon or soft bait with the other rod, but I usually end up just casting and retrieving. The old timer mentioned Basque food. I just found out this year on a Reno/Tahoe/Bridgeport/Silver Lake/Convict trip about the Basque history up in Nevada. I didn't realize it went as far south as Gardnerville. There's so much fascinating stuff up and down 395.

The last time i was there was around 1999 we would go every year i would use an olive metuka with a clear bubble 6 foot leader i learned that from this old timer but i think that setup got played out i remember my reel broke in 1995 i was so excited about what i learned i bought one of the high priced reels at the bait shop had that thing many years

Years ago the sporting goods store in Bridgport had a 30 pounder in a chest freezer. Said it was caught in twin lakes?

Is there some kind of inlet or fresh water coming in from somewhere into the lake? I’ve never fished it and have always wanted to
@TroutWest2 жыл бұрын
There is flow between the upper twin Lake and the lower twin. And a few small Creeks along the south side of the lake.

How do you get the rooster tail far out there since it’s so light?
@TroutWest2 жыл бұрын
They have the heavier weighted rooster tails and I recommend 2lb izorline. Outside of that mostly rooster tails are meant for Creek and River fishing. They do work in small ponds and even large lakes like this but getting it out and being patient for it to sink is the key. Some people like to troll them but I prefer other spinners for that with a faster sink rate.
@davezubi13042 жыл бұрын
@@TroutWest sweet! do they sell the izorline at Walmart? I'm thinking a good Castmaster would be good for the lake.

What ya plan on doing now that the Colorado is running dry.
@TroutWest2 жыл бұрын
The Colorado has plenty of water all of that is just media trash. Spent a lot of time up there this past summer and there's no shortage of water in fact Colorado had a great water year. The real issue is how much water they will maintain in the reservoirs instead of just letting it out. The outflow from the bigger reservoirs has never been higher yet they talk about water shortages. If you head out to Colorado you'll be shocked at how much water is flowing through the Colorado right now.

@@TroutWest okay well what do you plan on doing when it goes Deadpool and California is allocation is just a demand that cannot be fulfilled?

@@TroutWest lol ok look at powell pond... What are you smoking bro... I don't believe in global warming myself but even I accept the fact that the snow melt in the Rockies is decreasing and the entire Southwest is in a return back to its normal climate. A fucking desert
@TroutWest2 жыл бұрын
@@searchforthetruth1 luckily from my town it doesn't run off of Colorado water but I know a lot of cities are facing that reality and it's going to be a real problem. My guess is there will be a mass amount of people trying to move all at once.

@@TroutWest yeah a lot of corruption over the years is going to lead to mad Max scenario. look at strawberry springs there underground Wells are tap dry and the residents are now paying out of pocket for water to be delivered by trucks. That's the case for a lot of development the past 20 years but they're the first to run dry. the next couple years will get interesting no doubt. I'm saving and living in the midwest to return back to California if or when the prices are sensible or to retire. I won't pay the 24% or whatever state income tax they're attempting to pass I'll gladly make my money out of state and then return only to relax
