Very interesting comparison, thank you. It would be even more interesting to see the difference with the same type of tyre, because probably there are differences in the compound between manufacturers and that can affect the difference in lap time
@DefaultMale_8 ай бұрын
However this would be incredibly hard to actually measure, because there's so many other factors that affect lap times
@FranNDR8 ай бұрын
@@DefaultMale_ of course, I was just ponting out that using the same compound would reduce at least one factor compared to the video
@DefaultMale_8 ай бұрын
@@FranNDR Oh I thought you were talking about the differences in the compounds between the same two sets of tires lmao, which there may be a marginal difference in :p

I like those kinds of comparisons, well done!

It’s lovely to see you in an owner kart mate :) And oh boy do I hate old tyres now I’ve got my own kart. It’s just not fun, becasue they take forever to get on (technically the new’s take longer, but they grip more so shhhh), and then when they are on, it just doesn’t turn in how I want, and results in me missing the braking point and then locking up into the corner, getting on the power early, and just losing the rear of the kart on the power. Whereas, on new tyres I just full lock for 1 lap and then I’m gone, it’s nuts, and they grip like nothing else, it really is crazy.

Great video and comparison. If you ever get the opportunity in the future I would love to see a lap comparison of old tires vs the same old tires but treated with Wintergreen Oil.

It’s very expensive to use new tires. So we are buying tires after championship races and use them.

How many laps or hours can you do on a set of hard tyres these days ? What is the difference with hard rental tyres and hard race tyres ? Do rental hard tyres last 20 hours ?
@baronbunni46898 ай бұрын
with the old tires, i bet you were thinking "bono, my tires are gone."

I remember i had difficulty when turning the kart on short curves and lagging a bit on the commands

Could you share the distance of the track where you tested old and new tires? Thanks BTW

How many laps do you recommend before changing tires?

KTips quick question, how did you get into pro karting was it from sponsors or something else? Would love to know!

Hi mate! This is completely unrelated to this video, but could you please make a long form and detailed review of your Sparco Kerb Karting Suit, I'd genuinely appreciate it as I'm confused if I should get the Sparco Thunder or the Sparco Kerb. I'd appreciate it if you see this :)

Not really a fair comparison . Komet Reds are a hard compound tyre. They also lose all their grip after only one race day even though the tyres look hardly worn. Other hard compound tyres likes Maxxis sports retain their grip much better . We have one races and championships as privateers with used tyres. There is hope for the budget karters. Enjoy your racing .

How many laps or hours can you do on a set of hard tyres these days ? What is the difference with hard rental tyres and hard race tyres ? I raced in the 1990s with 100cc screamers Rotax Black 18000 rpm with CRG then an early Tonykart. I used 1 old set of tyres from the previous sunday race on the next Saturday testing just for morning and part of the afternoon. Then bed in the race set. Just 1 heat cycle. They could last about 45 mins of sunday racing and another hour if saturday testing. After that they were 2 secs off and only usefull for running in an engine. You could continue but the kart would understeer and snap power oversteer. That was with 100cc lack of torque. I have no idea what a modern 125cc feels like. We had 18 to 21 hp. It started dropping after 1 hour. You needed 2 engines for a weekend.
