Interesting! I have the newer unibody frame on my 2002 Montero. It’s 18 years old (purchased new in 2001) and has well over 220k miles on it. 2017 was my FIRST shop repair when the sunroof got stuck open. Sadly though... Nisan exec's feel their vehicles are better and the Monte is dead. 2018 sales worldwide were 1000 units. That's nothing.

He's very 'yarse, ew yarse absolyootley, shoot my butler'. Back then the show was fronted by a bunch of awful posho toryboys who spoke like you were scum and they were doing you a favour. So I'd imagine Jeremy tried to fit in. And over time he realised they were dull, he was more interesting and, more importantly, popular than they were, and he started leaning into his own personality a bit more. And the show responded by making him the focus. Very good idea.

They're gonna have even more financial problems for not producing any good cars. Frankly I still don't know how things went wrong with Mitsubishi. But at the point where they stopped innovating is when they start dying. I can't recommend any of their cars anymore. Any brand new Mitsubishi looks like a 10 y/o car out of the box. Might as well just buy a 10 y/o one for a third of the price.

By ASEAN standards, I say they have 3 cars that are solid ( Xpander, Pajero Sport, Triton ), considering the technology development and build quality in the market. I might still be able to recommend those 3 cars. Problem is that EU/US spec cars have the same technology and build quality as ASEAN spec cars, which is just embarrassing. It's a dying brand that's underdeveloped and it's sad to see where Mitsubishi is heading.

I live in the US, where we get it as the Montero, I actually prefer its original name "Shogun" because that I feel that it is far better suited to this vehicle unlike those 2 other names. Mainly since "shogun" means "general" in Japanese, it is very appropriate as this truck is like a warrior when off-road, and it's strong and very well-built.
@KoushiroIzumi858 жыл бұрын
+Seth Guest It's original name is actually "Pajero". "Shogun" is the name for it only in the U.K. market. We don't get it in the U.S. because Mitsubishi Motors North America hasn't sold the Montero since 2006.

Shankar, Pajero was never a real part of the Indian market. The double trim version was introduced new in India when this face of the Pajero 2 was already dead. The 3.5L full grade was only used by the ultra rich of India in the 90s to some extent and that was it. We in Bangladesh in the other hand abused it to full scale. They rocked the 90s and the early 2000s. So much so that the Shotgun is still assembled in Bangladesh by Pragati.

As a Land Rover and Mitsubishi owner, I can say without question the Mitsubishi Montero, Shogun wins hands down in every category. My Land Cruiser was not as off road capable as the Montero. The Montero experienced only one failure (Sunroof got stuck open) in 17 years and 220k miles. The Land Cruiser had 3 transmission failures, and a half dozen electrical failures before I sold it at 47k miles 4 years after purchase.

Only put 33" mud tyres on and a 2" suspension lift and I was able to do anything any other 4x4 could including heavily modified landrovers with THOUSANDS spent of them... Actually, I've lost count of the number of land rovers I've pulled out with it! Only ever got stuck once and that was in a deep bog that I sank in up to nearly my wing mirrors! My 3.0 V6 SWB shogun on the other hand... Bog standard except for 31" BFG Muds and it's even better still! Its an animal! Only thing to watch out for is wet roads with mud or shit road tyres on though.
